getting service from YONKER
for those who get their cars regularily maintained at Yonker Nissan, I have a heads-up. A couple of weeks ago I took my car in for a regular oil change. A couple of days later I heard a strange chattering sound coming from under the hood. I was afraid to drive it any further so I pulled over to the nearest parking lot. When I popped the hood, I found my engine bay was splattered with oil. It turns out the technicians forgot to replace the oil cap back on after a simple oil change. Luckily there was a K-mart nearby and I bought a roll of paper towel and some engine oil. I called the service manager to complain and, although they offered to clean it, they did not apologize or admit any fault on their part. I think they said "people make mistakes".
anyways just be careful and make sure you remind them to put the oil cap back on when done.
note: i have to stay with them because i have free oil change for life with Yonker.

If I could change my own oil I would. I dont have the equiment/location to do so.
This exact same thing happens at Jiffy Lube and many other places. Its just entry level mechanics working there that do this stuff.
So far I've never had anyone else change the oil on any car that I've owned.

i recalled they also scratched off some paint off my strut tower brace...
worst part was unknowingly driving around while the oil was splashing all over the engine compartment and underside of the hood... only reason i found out about the oil cap was b/c the engine was unusually noisy... i immediately pulled into a strip mall and pop'd the hood... good think there was a K-mart there where I bought some motor oil and rolls of paper towel.

Make sure you get it documented and added to your service file just in case engine issues come up at a later time. They may even turn around and say YOU left the oil cap off if they see evidence of oil splashing.
