BS speeding ticket
So here is an update regarding a speeding ticket from last Summer ..
I was going West on I-90 on Mercer Island. I was in second to the left lane, going the speed limit. Up ahead, in the far left lane (the lane that becomes the Express Lanes), there was a car. Just as I approached him, he slowed down to below the speed limit and then decided to not go into the Express Lanes, but rather, remain on the main line. This decision meant he was in a lane that was ending. As it ended, he cut in front of me going maybe 50 or 55 mph in an area where the speed limit is 60. Once I noticed that the car was a Camaro, I thought, either this is a clueless driver, or someone who is trying to harrass me. So, I changed lanes one lane over to the right, accelerated, and passed him. Well, it turned out to be a cop. When he pulled me over, he told me that "He saw me coming and decided to stay on the main line." A more accurate statement would have been that "he saw me coming so decided to slow down to below the speed limit and cut me off."
Then it turns out that he was not a State Patrol officer, but rather, an Issaquah City Police officer. (Keep in mind Issaquah is about 10 miles East of Mercer Island.)
He ticketed me for speeding and also for "following too closely."
I decided to challenge and fight the ticket.
Now, over 7 month later, I have not even been given a court date !!!
Is this justice ??? Why don't they just let us go to work without harrassing us?

it might save you time, but I always hear that you're more likley to get off when you challenge in person b/c the cop might not show up...in the end, if you can't PROVE the cop wrong, the judge will side with the cop - at most you'll get a reduced fine or something like that.
good luck!

I agree with going with an attorney. I have gotten out of 6 tickets in teh last 2 years with the same lawyer. He is awesome. He charges 200 a pop though. Got my most recent ticket coming up on the 26th up in bellingham. I hate the freaking snow.....
