Some more "money" shots...

Volks hiding some serious stopping power underneath...

SVRT, where the magic is happening...

Defi goods in the stock cluster postition to retain that ultimate "sleeper" look...

Hope Scott doesn't mind, but this was too funny to pass up. As he is porting my heads with grit and determination, I couldn't help but notice the "true muscle" sign in the background...talk about irony! LOL

Here are some who love the technical aspects and little details involved when building a block, I know I'm learning more from Scott as each day goes by...

First off, let me introduce the custom SVRT 1/2" head studs which allow nearly double the clamping torque of the popular L19s

Here is a "before" shot and you can see the thickness of the divider...

And here is a poor quality "after" shot where it has been ported and smoothed down for more ideal air flow potential...

Tried to get a side by side comparison of before (right) and after (left) so you can see the differences...

i had a feeling the one of me porting the head would make it to the net, hahhaa. see ya back out there tomorrow keith!

btw- just wanted to clarify, the 1/2" studs (installed the way i have tested) provides nearly double the "pull out" strength of the stock sized L-19's. torque is about 15-20% more, but way more reliability in actually staying in the block!

Scott,

How do you go about adapting a headgasket to these larger studs? I know we have talked about you doing my build as well. I am still on the boarder of the L19's or these.

I will get ahold of you though PM's.

the head gaskets are actually the exact size as the larger stud. also, because if the thread inserts, the hole in the block beneath the head gasket is larger so you can tap the stud through and it will not damage or effect anything. it was a worry for me the first time also as you cannot machine the gaskets without getting metal shavings between the layers of the gasket, but all works just fine.

the 1/2" studs is by far the best way to go. the L-19's will pull out of the block at approx 110-115ftlbs tq, they recommend torqueing them to 95-100ft lbs. if installed as i have tested, the 1/2" studs didn't pull out or even distort the threads in the block up past 200ftlbs!!! i never did actually find the failure point, that was plenty, lol. the 1/2" studs are also designed to be torqued to 120ft lbs. as you can see, there is a ton more headroom, and more holding power over the L-19's for not much more of an investment.
it really is the only way to go.

Yeah man, you have no idea

Unfortunately we ran into a slight problem where Arias included the wrong ring sizing with the pistons I purchased (stock bore versus the need for slight overbore). Sharif is a good man though, and is taking care of everything for me. Problem is that it will set Scott and myself back a week or two...oh well, these things happen!

Thanks for the great pics so far!

Doesn't seem like much metal is left after porting... I guess there is no structural integrity to consider.

Keep the pics coming

Your wish is my command!!!

First up is of the custom SVRT fuel return system...

Next up, let's look at the near final gauge setup...take note on the desire to keep things looking as OEM as possible to retain that "sleeper" look...These are all Defi gauges, the OEM gauges have been removed...

Finally, a sneak peek at the near completed block...

not much metal has been removed from most of the port. only removed from areas that are obstacles or not creating the smoothest flow patterns. it would have no effect on structural integrity. target was to get a good flowing street/strip head, not all out race.

Thanks for responding
It's great to have skilled mechanic that's proud to have his work displayed. My background is in electrical control systems but I'm being pulled deeper into mechanics as my skills (and funds) allows... so this build has peaked my interest.

I will be headed down to GTM to have the FCON installed at the end of the month. Since the resolution on that unit allows for a very detailed and safe tune, I don't think 600WHP is out of the question. To be honest, anything over 500WHP is just icing on the cake for me!

With Sam/GTM at the tune, anything is possible!!!
