It rains a lot! Coming from a nice warm dry state takes a bit of getting used to unless you are just coming up for a visit or vacation. But other than that its beautiful on the western side of this state where all the "harbors" are.

friday harbor is HELLA BORING. its in the san juan islands and you have to take a boat out there. I'm assuming the houses are decently priced for it quiet and exclusive island privileges. If your looking to retire then it might be a bad place but its for older folks and there is only one real town and its 1 street long lol.

I've stayed in Friday Harbor, it's definitely a tiny little "town". The island is beautiful though, if you're an outdoors-y type or a nature lover, it would be great. Having to ferry then drive aways to get to a big city is a bit of a pain as well.

Get a kayak.

It just depends on what you're looking for as to whether or not it's for you. There's great scenery, but very small and touristy in the summer. And I don't like the idea of being confined to a ferry schedule all the time. In the summer, there's gonna be so many people on the boat it might take you hours just to get to Anacortes. If you're just lookin for a small quiet place and you generally stay close to home, it's probably fairly nice. But if you're the sort that's always out and about and going to places like the mall or the movie theater or something, it's going to get very old, very fast.
