141 MPH on I-5...
The media does tend to blow stories like this out of proportion. I think it's more likely that they were doing 120 vs. 141. The article says; 'clocked at 141 mph', but I think it was actually an estimate. The use of the term 'clocked' is probably loosely interpreted which in reality migh have been a guess form the trooper that witnessed it. It doesn't grab the attention as much if it read; 'estimated by the trooper at 141 mph'.
Says they were arrested early Tuesday morning, so you can assume 12am - 3am? Not a lot of drivers out at that time and I5 is pretty straight. They probably wouldn't have been caught if they didn't pull over to switch passengers.

what's up with all these ppl getting caught going so fast...I've heardn ews reports of several motorcycles getting arested for high speeds, now this.
WSP seems like they're really stepping it up latley...just about every day I see 1 patrol car between my commute from Bellevue to Everett

You guys have it waaaaay to easy.. where i come from (N.Z & Australia) there are thousands of Hidden camera's, dummy vans/wagons parked on the side of the road with cameras, redlight and fixed cameras everywhere.. and cops take what feels like a vindictive step towards catching you..
however.. my only ticket in the U.S was for 37mph in a 30mph.. if you can believe that....

But in all honesty i WOULD only do it on an open road at night time. I just cant sit here and call them dumb when ive done it too. (i dont think any1 that owns a vette has been able to stay under 120 for their whole life...) We bought the car for a reason... haha
Im still skeptical about the accord doing 140+. HOWEVER it said he was "keeping up" or keeping pace, or whatever. So that could mean he was doing 125-130 and sorta stayin in there. Which is believable...
Most people I've meet don't have the training and experience to look ahead. They say things like how "everything gets blurry/tunnel vision". My 4 yrs in Germany in the 1980's changes the way you drive at high speeds.
On another note, the road speed sensors and camera network in the Northwest are set to automatic alert law enforcement. The road speed sensors are the round rings cut in the road surface. There is normally a camera pointing at the speed sensor, too.

Crap! I don't know how many times I've popped out of the I90 tunnel doing over 135 across the bridge in the HOV lane when no one is around. I always wondered if there were cameras or speed sensors.
I guess I shouldn't do that anymore

i wouldnt be surprised if the honda could do 140. i remember here in scottsdale where we have the speed cameras on the 101, a hyundai sonata was clocked at like 145+.
the owner told police "its a sonata, it cant go 145" then the cops took a sonata and tried it, and it did do that kinda speed....so he went to jail.

For intance, that kevin guy that just died driving without his seatbelt (member), they accused him of streetracing for little to no reason. Just seems ike BS to me, both about the media, and a 140+MPH honda
Nope, they had a 6 speed, which was more money than the ex v6, it had 17's before they were standard in 05 and better suspension. No CVT in them. And it didnt take that long to get to 135, but i know it would take a while to go up higher, they had to have removed the limiter. As i said its governed at 135.
