Got the tires installed earlier this evening by Russ and Marek at FTL. They're also professional and also work fairly quickly. Pricing is pretty much a mirror of TNT.

I definitely won't hesitate to use either's services again. I suggest you guys just make an appointment at whichever one is closer. Or (like in my case today) whichever one fits your schedule better.

Good meeting you over the phone today Russ, my apologies again for having to cancel with only an hour and a half's notice.

Got another appointment at TNT setup.

Looks like FTL raised their prices $10 to mount/balance 4 tires.

Uh, can they safely mount 285/30R18 DOT-R Kumho V710s on 18x8 wheels?

Didn't think so.

(Yes, I pay double for that, but then again it's worth it!)

*I could barely fit all of that into my CR-V:
4 OE bridgstone tires
4 OE rims w/ RA-1's
2 OE rims w/ old bridgestones
2 Enkei RPF1's w/ 285/18's
2 Hoosier 315/18's
14 tire/rims in all!

The discount tire places usually charge $100/set for mount and balancing....so their prices are much cheaper and service is 100% better!

Can't believe you fit all that in a CR-V! Skills. Most I've ever carried is 8 wheels w/tires mounted. Then again, I guess you're not too worried about getting minor/superficial nicks on your track wheels.

In the G? Most I got was 6 but I didn't want to put any on the leather front seats, probably could have gotten 2 more up there though. I had them dismount and mount my tires on my Jlines and SSR's a couple of weeks ago and they did a great job! Really nice people. One thing I would be wary of which probably occurs at other shops is very minor scuffing on the lips from the machine. They have the plastic feet like all the other high end shops I've seen, but alot of high polished lips are very delicate. Running a band of masking tape around the edge of the lips before mounting would be a good idea. They were super carefull with the rims though and everything else was great!

No, never carried more than 4 wheels/tires in the G. That was in my truck.

That's definitely a great deal. That's $20 to $25 a set, out the door, for sizes 19"+ on nice wheels done by very competent people?

Often, big tire shops will have low paid kids working on your wheels. Once the tire guys/gals get good, they realize they can make more elsewhere and bolt.

We started this business when a local Goodyear shop couldn't get my old Turbo Miata tires balanced after 3 tries. And once, when I dropped off a set of tires on SSRs, the kid rolls them across the shop like a bowling ball. I'm like "Is that wheel gonna end up on it's face or back?" Oh and one time, a shop cut deep grooves into the Aluminum of all 6 spokes of all 4 wheels. Um, couldn't you have noticed when the 1st spoke was gouged? So we started this business over 3 years ago to ensure we and others have access to conscientious tire service.

I've talked with a shop in Spokane (Adare Motorsports) who was looking for advice on tire equipment. They're up and running now and while they charge in our range for moderately sized race and street tires, for low profile stuff, they charge $150 a set all day long.

You often get what you pay for. TNT and FTL have low overhead, so can offer good quality services for less than the big shops.

Just gonna bump this because I'm going to have Karl mount my new Pirellis on some Volks Hopefully he can fit me in for tomorrow. I really wanna get these Volks on! Was gonna go to FTL because they're closer but they charge $60 now? >.< Pricing is better with TNT and I have had Karl mounted tires on my Meisters before - I'd make the drive to Renton haha

I've used FTL once, and they are quite good. I've used TNT 4x now, and they have slightly better equipment, which means they're a little faster. Guess it doesn't matter if you're dropping them off, but I usually just wait. FTL did raise their prices a tad, so TNT is cheaper although, in your case, you'll end up spending the $10 difference in gas for the extra distance.

I heard Karl's outta town on a business trip and Amy might have been out or at work at the time. Best to leave a message. I'm guessing that they're proabbly gonna get really busy this time of year since people are getting ready for the upcoming season.
