Back… in Black!
3 weeks from this past Friday I was involved in an accident w/ my Z.
2 weeks from this past Friday I was told that Z was totaled.
1 week from this past Friday I saw my Z for the last time as it was being towed away on a flatbed.

Each Friday for the past 3 weeks has really sucked for me. This last Friday I was determined to change this cr@ppy string of luck I’ve been having.
I’m back… this time in black.

I know I must’ve said this a lotta times in my other post, but thanks to the Z guys that helped my ‘see the light’ and guided me to getting another Z. My first Z car is gone, but not forgotten. This one isn't replacing it, it's just continuing where the last one left off.
Viva Nissan! Long Live the Z!!!

Very nice...when you opened the garage on Friday, my jaw dropped as I saw that beautiful rear end!
...only downside is that you'll probably be putting down more power dow than I do - and you're still OE! It'll be great to race with/against you next year in IA...let's go for a 1st-2nd 350Z finish!

The Nismo Z didn't seem to be in my future. Of the dealerships that I contacted I heard the same thing; 90-120 days for a special order. One option was possible, but it would've ment that they would've pulled someone else's order but it would still be about 45 days out. Younker Nissan only delivered #49 as of this past Friday.
In my mind I had 2 options; go w/ the Nismo and call it good, leave it As-Is, ... or... go w/ the Base and build it up. It would've been nice to be in that exclusive group of Nismo Z owners, but I'm just happy to be one of the regular Z guys. Besides, I promised you and Bill that I'd join you in IA next year. A Nismo Z would've left me in Stock A.
Not so sure if having that extra power w/ this new engine will be a huge advantage, it's still over 100 lbs heavier than yours, stock for stock. I'll be really rusty after being out of it for a whole year while you and Bill will be fresh from the fight of the '07 season.

117 miles down... 1383 miles to go before I can see if this will live up to my expectations. I can already feel the difference in lowend torque and really notice the quailty of interior changes over the '03. Steering seems lighter (more power assist?) and I've gotten use to the new lighter clutch feel. First time I stepped on it I thought it was broken.
From what I can tell so far, it doesn't feel like the 112 lb over my previous Z is noticable, and ofcourse I haven't gone above 4k yet so the 7500 rpm roar is a something I am very anxious to hear. The bump in the hood took some getting use to so my seating position now is a little higher than before, still getting use to that.
I think externally the look of the hood isn't bad. I still preffer the look of the 03-06 hood. Inside the car I think the hood gets in the way slightly, but only w/ objects that are right next to the car, particularly the front right corner. Better visibilty in that area when attempting to apex a corner is a slight advantage in autoX that the guys w/ the '03-'06 cars will have. But for the 306 hp engine w/ a huge usable torque curve, it's more than acceptable trade off.
Nice ride!!!
So explain to me why there is a bulge in the hood? I haven't been keeping up on the Z lately...is the engine physically larger?
I can't wait to hear about how the AutoX goes for you...see if there's a big difference in your times.
(Speaking of which, I really need to head out to one soon...would love to see how my car does with the new gearing. Time to buy another set of rims with r-compound)
