So the time has come. I think I have decided to trade the Z for a EVO or STI. I live on a huge huge double hill in west salem and the Z will just not workout for the winter time and with my old roommate moving out and not having his STI to use in the winter I will be SOL.

If anybody knows anybody with a STI or EVO that is looking to trade into the Z. I have a 07 MB Z with Black Volk Le37ts, Carputer installed and tint done. Has about 9500 miles on it was DD between Beaverton and Salem since Febuary.

I am looking for a 06/07 STI or EVO perf Black or White. Or if anybody in interested in buying it I would sell it for a decent price.

With the costs of sale and acquisition that you would lose, you could buy a beater for the snow days. Remember, even 4 wheel drive EVOs and STi's don't brake any better and are just as susceptible of being hit by some idiot in bad weather. My insurance even went down when I listed my Z as the 2nd car.

Tubbs, how is it a idiotic decision? While we are all entitled to our own opinions, I am curious as to your reasoning? I DD my Z, in the winter time it's not the great on the snow as we all know, or on ice for that matter. I find the EVO/STI would be more practical in that way, while still keeping the performance of the Z.

And yes I see I would be losing some $$ on the deal, I am thinking I could keep that down to a low # if I am to sell the Z and buy a used 06.

I have in no way finalized my decision to do this, I just figured I would start looking and if I found a good deal of some kind I might take it. I love my Z and I am very very happy I bought it. But some unforseen things came up and have changed the use of my Z to whenever its nice out to hardcore DD.

 

Because you knew what the weather was like before you bought the Z. Now you're going to lose a lot of money, because you didn't make the best decision. Plus, you're thinking the STI or Evo will be a miracle vehicle on wet and snowy roads? Better than a RWD Z, for sure, but not THAT much better than an old FWD beater. I have an olf FWD beater (tires are worth more than the car) and everytime I go skiing, I'm passing dumbasses stuck on the side, in new Audi's, Subaru's and trucks. Why? Because I'm better at driving than them, and have the best winter tires money can buy.

 

Great reasoning. The money isnt that big of a concern to me. More the ability to get to and from work. You are correct I did know the weather. But as I stated before last year and the year before that I would just use my roommates STI to go to and from work most of the winter/bad waether days. He has unfourtunately moved out. I did not see that coming when I got the Z.
I did consider the Old FWD beater, maybe a old POS subby wagon. But that requires I put insurance on it, at the moment I'm paying insurance on a few more things then I would really like to. Z, Bike, GF's car, trailer. Although I could take it off the trailer it is still adding another vehicle.
At this point I am considering the beater more and more as no matter how slow I drive or how safe I drive in any vehicle... You cant predict other drives and as you said the EVO/STI could get hit just as easy as the Z.

I work at Irvine Subaru in Lake Forest CA. I had an 05 white on gold STI! they are great cars for snow and heavy weather conditions! But AWD gets boring UNless you have 400+ WHP. STI's have 0-60 thats it! RWD for the WIN
