Default Canadian vs. WA gas?

How's gas in Canada?? I'm trying to determine if I should plan to fill up just before going into Canada w/ WA gas, or wait until I'm in Canada...by some luck, would Canada run higher octane fuels?!

Clarify - I'm trying to get the highest/best octan fuel...I'm not too concerned with the cost (I'm driving up for the Canadian National autoX this weekend)

thanks!

common octane is 87, 89 and 91.. some places do have 92 very rarely do i see anything over 92.

87 today was 94.9 cents/L in Brantford
91 today ~ 104.9 cents/L

If I remember correctly, I filled up on a >91 octane there... Might have been somewhere else though...

1 US gallon = 3.7854118 liters

So a gallon of 91 octane would be 3.7854118 x 104.9 cents/L or about $3.97 a gallon! You would still have to figure out the exchange rate though.

do all Chevrons offer 94? I'm heading over to Pitt Meadows (about 20-30 miles east of Vancouver). I'm willing to pay a bit more for higher octane...the Z likes it

every one I've seen has 94. Once you get out of vancouver, gas is a bit cheaper too.

Sorry for the late reply (I was in Vancouver too when you emailed me)... as a general rule, everything is more expensive in Canada compared to the US (except for Asian food)...

I go there almost every other weekend and I fill up for gas at Burlington/Anacortes exit before continuing North...

thanks for the info - The chevron station in Pitt Meadows (about 1hr East of Vancouver) had 94 octane - FTW! (too bad it was cold and rainy this weekend, so Max power didn't make too big of a difference for autoX)

Once you are outside of the regional transit area the gas drops by about $0.08 - $0.12 per liter ($0.30 to $0.38 per USGal): Essentially Abbotsford/Mission and east.

Reason is that we are taxed on auto fuel purchases in order to subsidize public transit, ie. us car drivers help keep bus fares down. Outside of the transit area, they don't collect this tax.
