Default engine builders in the area (for civic engine)

Anyone know of a good/cheap engine builder in the area?

I'm getting a '92-'95 civic hatch as a commuter car, and will need to rebuild the engine...it should be a straight forward rebuild, so I'm not looking to pay too much $$ for it.

thanks!

Aahhh intec is expensive! You should definitely use them for a track/race build but for one that Peter is asking he probly doesn't wanna pay their price. They do great work though.

I am planning on doing what you're doing Peter, probly get a 94 hatch next year and commute with it.

I just emailed intec - thanks for the contact (even if they're high, it'll at least be a stating point)

the '92-'95 1.5L VX Vtec-E (economy) engine can get 50 MPG in the hatchback...I'm thinking of shaving the head a bit for more compression, reducing weight, smalled tires, lightier wheels...and hope for 55+ MPG. (My wife just got a job up in Everett near me ...so we'll be commuting everyday )

You might be better off just buying a low mileage d16, they are cheap to come by, most shops just throw them out after B series swaps

humm...sounds right - 50% of the civics I've been looking at are modified w/ engine swaps...but, the d16 don't get the same gas mileage as the d15z1...IIRC:
d16 - 35 MPG freeway
d15z1 - 50 MPG freeway.

if it's gonna cost too much for the rebuild, I might do it myself...still kicking ideas around.

Thats what I'd do. Just have someone do any required machine work and then do all the assembly yourself. Honda engines are so easy to work on anyway.

Get a use d15 instead, there are plenty of those around too, i just threw out a generic d series engine. with your wrenching skills, you could probably do the swap yourself.

Our technician Wayde used to the tech at intec about 1.5 years ago. He has over 8 years of Honda motor building experience. We would be happy to give you a promo price on the build based on your My350z membership.

Drop a line to garret@worldoneperformance.com and I will put you in touch with Wayde if you would like.

Thanks!

My brother worked in Kirkland Honda for several years and are usually looking for a side jobs. I will ask him how much he would charge for engine rebuild if you want to... He is very honest and lot cheaper than any shops... He is about to finish his Hachiroku so he should have room in his garage... Let me know Peter.. Actually, Scott (1z33) works there too... Maybe you should ask him if he wanna do this...

I'll email you now Lee (I emailed Lee@worldoneperformance.com yesterday...)
