Default Exhaust Question.....

So I got my car back from the body shop the other day from my accident and there is a horrendous rasp coming from the car when I get on the throttle. The shop told me about it, but said they weren't sure if that was how the exhaust was supposed to sound or not(aftermarket). So I told them I would drive it for a few days and let them know if I needed it fixed. Mind you, they are happy to fix it, so that isn't an issue. Anyway, I put the car on a jack tonight and noticed a 2" gash in the flexible section of the y-pipe. I felt it and it is hard to tell if it goes all the way through. Do you guys think this is what is causing the rasp? It is pretty loud but the gash isn't that big so I wasn't sure. Obviously I'm going to have that fixed, unless I just get a Nismo exhaust or something, but should I worry about it being something else? Besides the sound, the car runs perfect.

I would probably look into fixing/replacing the flex piping. If nothing else has been changed, that would probably be the best culprit.

Yeah....everything else looks like it wasn't damaged in my accident. My wife said I could get a new exhaust if I want...thats the good news.

Just get an aftermarket Y-pipe.
