Default Portland roadster show feb29-mar2

well the time is approaching. have had this show in my sites for the last few months to enter my car in and it is down to about a month and a half. for those who have not been, there is some of the countries finest cars there and is a top caliber event in portland.
the motor is going in my car today (to cold to work outside today so i am playing hooky!) so the deadline should be no sweat. planning on not even driving the car hardly at all till the show to eliminate rock chips. they have about 300 classes, so hopefully i can atleast beat out the occasional rsx or other sequined hondas that the portland import class brings!
$35 to enter, so whoever else wants to enter, i will see ya there! or just show up and check out a few $1 million+ street rods. some of those things just make me sick!

will post some pics of the car in a few days now that i will have my correct ride height back due to the motor being back in!

I wouldn't mind getting a bunch of the Seattle-area guys together to roll down there and check it out for a day. It'd be a nice drive, check out some cars, good times.

Are you planning on new wheels by the show? I don't really think the Axis wheels are going to cut it for a show car

not 100% sure. still have about another $3+k worth of stuff to get for it in the next couple weeks, and the wheels i have been looking at are another $3-5k more. right now i am kinda at the point that i just want it done. kinda waiting for the dust to settle and get it road worthy again. i have other vehicles that suck up my wallet also, lol. the mods really do look pretty good in the satin black and fits the car well with spacers. i'm sure it will be plenty good for the show.
winter has been really good for my work this year though, so ya never know, i might get drunk one night and blow a wad on some wheels online, hahhaa. been keeping my eyes on the 20x9 20x11 work rezaxs 2's in the market place.

Yea, I'm not saying they look bad, but show judges are often brand ******, and having a brand name set of JDM wheels is almost a prerequisite for placing at alot of shows.

thanks, i appreciate the offer! it is a 3 day show though i'll see what happens, it is well over a month away and i have have been spending roughly an hour or more everyday looking at different wheels. just can't make up my mind really. it has to be a 20" and either 11" or 12" rear, look good in black, and make you feel like someone just kicked ya in the beans when you see them, lol. forged sevas, forged moz, or the used works in the marketplace.

ok, got a big bid on a set of 20" iforged on ebay, lol. if it goes to high, then i will back out and get the rezax 2's. expecting the iforged to only hit a touch over $2k though (smoking deal so please nobody else bid on them, lol) finalized a couple other construction projects an hour ago so my wallet opened back up, lol.

car is up in the air right now finishing up the motor reinstall. turning most all of my vacuum lines into copper hard lines (especially all associated with the w/g operation) and doing a few other custom things, so it is taking awhile. hope to be able to get the stuff under the car finished today or tomorrow though, and set it back on the ground for pics.
deadline for show entry is feb 1st, so i need to atleast snap off a couple good pics in the next couple days, as pics are required for entry concideration. car will not be able to move under its own power for a couple more weeks though, so pics will still just be from inside my shop.

what kind of wax are some of you guys using? i am currently using a synthetic wax that seems pretty good, but not sure if it can be layered. after the cut and buff on the car, there is almost no trace of even a hairline scratch, paint looks super deep and gloss is retarded. but still could use a good shell as even a finger running across it will leave a scratch!!

well, a little update on this. show was awesome! tons of cool cars and trucks there.
managed to get 1st place in my class. funny thing is though, i think i was the only one in my class, lol. it was "tuner/nissan" oh well, it counts as a big fat W in my column!! about half the people walking by were taking pics with the car and it did stand out quite abit with the paint.

me being cheesy with my new buddy!!
