Seems like short of an Exige and/or SRT-10 Viper a worked Miata (Uber-Miata) tends to be the next fastest car in WWSCC (going off of last years stats).

I haven't looked into the Spec Miata series, but is that what you're thinking of for your wheel-to-wheel flavor?
the miata idea keeps coming back...I could autoX it and slowly mod it for Spec miata seires...

Been thinking about it a little it and the I'm starting to like the idea more. Heck, if I had another bay in the garage right now, I might even consider doing it myself.

I just traded the Z in for a new VW r32. Not as fast as an EVO or STi, but its more refined and the build quality is excellent. It's pretty quick too, over a second faster on the Top Gear track than a stock Z. Plus the AWD is nice. To sum it up....the Z is sweet, but an AWD rocket is a good idea, good luck!!!

STi/Evo really makes alot of sense for your situation. Actually for mine too, so I could have just one car to pull double duty and replace the SUV/sports car combo. For me, I just can't bring myself to be associated with that image, though..

Pat, all you need for this is the GT-R!

You ppl want a great sports car...Get a Hyundai!!! Besides the money will help feed my ppl.

In all seriousness, you may want to look into a bmw 335. Those cars are dynoing at 320+ whp and more so on the torque (I was at their last dyno day couple of weeks ago). Adding a piggy back for a few hundred is pretty much all you need. I've raced my friend and he pulled away with two other ppl in his car and it's a 4 door. I have considered this myself. The white coupe with red interior.

First 350, the STI is a great choice of car. You won't be dissapointed in it (but you will miss the Z). What year are you looking at?

the sti is no better under the hood than the evo, stock for stock the evo is slightly faster, mod for mod, the difference is negligible, if not slightly in favor of the evo
Neither the Evo or STI suffer from torque steer. They push in the corners (I think that's what people are confusing torque steer with).

The Evo has a much better powerplant in the 4G63 than the STI has. This has been proven numorous times. It's also quicker/faster stock vs. stock.

I think Robi does suspension mods for Subys now too. I know he's hooking Z's up.

Some dealerships are garbage, that's the damn truth. Others are cool (all really depends on if you're in good with the SM... I've had a warranty job done no questions asked).

It's the same thing with Subaru though... I remember when they were giving out free one year SCCA memberships with the purchase of an STI... but if you EVER activated the membership they'd axe your warranty on the spot. Shitty deals.

If you worked at Subaru you should know better than to say that. Just the crappy glass tranny in the WRX is reason enough to chose the STI.

STI > WRX.

Not true at all. The VQ needs to be built to handle that much, while a 4G63t can take ~550awhp/awtq on stock internals. All that takes is a 35R and supporting mods.

No it doesn't. The "rolling switch" (the DCCD) doesn't change the car from AWD to RWD, it just adjusts the torque distro between the front and rear wheels. The car remains AWD 100% of the time.

Actually, lately I've been looking at the 335xi coupe and the Audi A5. Both nice sporty 2 doors with AWD. Hmmm....
