Default Tint place recommendation?

Hi everyone,

I have recently moved up to bellevue and I am looking to get my windows tinted.

I havent decided on what %, but I am considering 25,
is it too much and can get engaged with the cops for dark tints or is it fine?

Also, please recommend me a good place to get the tint at a decent price.

Thanks in advance for any advise

-Jason

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN WASHINGTON?
Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Washington, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window. *Anything under 25% risks your vehicle being impounded*
• Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 6 inches of the windshield.
• Front Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
• Back Side Windows Must allow more than 70% of light in.
• Rear Window Must allow more than 50% of light in.
Then again, from http://www.seattlewindowtinting.com/...ting_laws.html
they say legal limit is 35 side and rear,,

I have no idea which one to trust, but 25 all around safe?
or 30side 25rear?

Thanks

i got 20% sides and rear. looks great, never been messed with about it since only 1 bellevue cop carries a tint meter, 2 kirkland, and 2 seattle PD. 35% is legal limit for sides and rear.

that would in fact be super.
but how viable is that of an option? i suspect it would not be easy, and
moreover,
i would prefer not to be bothered by cops rather than get-pulled-and-show-prescription.

you will be fine with 20%...I have friends with 5% tint in this area, and they don't get bothered. Just roll your windows down when you get pulled over.

acutint does great work but they are very expensive....i had mine tinted by a previous co-worker (dealership tint guy) and mine are 35 all around... i love it... i have had cars with 20 and as low as 5 but i could never see for **** at night... i went with 35 on the z because the back window blows for backing up in tight spaces and when its blacked out... well you get the idea.... 20 would prolly be just as good but to me 5 isnt worth it anymore unless your driving a G-wiz

IMO, going darker than 20% on the two door windows would be straight out stupid. Mines 20 all around. Not too dark at night looking out, but harder to see when trying to look in. Majority of cops won't mess with you, unless you do something to make him pull you over. General rule, 35 fronts and you can pretty much go as dark as you want in the back. You can paint the back if you really wanted to.

Eric at Fast Lane 2 does great job and he only uses one type of film and he guarantees it for life from peeling and turning purple. Unfortunately he's in Lakewood area. But he does great work if it has anything to do with a vehicle and has been around for awhile.

Thanks for the replies and recommendations,

I have some time to decide (since my plates havent even arrived yet )
and I am leaning towards 20 all around, but still considering 25 all around too.

I have contacted accutint and they wanted 270 for tint alone and it is way too expensive for me (for a tint at least imo)
and lakewood is too far.. T.T

One other place I contacted was Skyline Tinting at Lynnwood who quoted me 150, which I think is nice but I have no idea on the quality of work they provide.

Any recommendation would be appreciated,

-Jason

I had my window tint done by Dealer XPress in Auburn. $189 with lifetime warranty, 20% tint.

It was 200. He uses the Sungard film and lifetime on what ever the problem is, if it is the work or the product itself. Some may say it's cheaper here and there, but I like Erics honesty and bluntness. He'll tell you pretty much how it is. I'm the kind of person who will pay a few bucks more for the work, if it means better quality.

Others may do tint on a regular basis and they can charge a little less or they use inferior products.

Tell you the truth, he did the 20% a few months ago and it's still perfect.

Just an advice (I have learned this the hard way a few times): Just because you get something for cheaper, does not mean you get the better product. My "mom" told me a while back, "it's better to spend a little bit more for a better product and service, rather than paying more for it later." And it has been true a high percentage of the time. There are times when you can get things cheaper and come out ahead.

I had my G35c done by Acutint. One warning is that the first time they did it, the tinter managed to get one of his hairs between the tint and the glass for the front windshield. Since he said he was doing it as a favor to me (even though he charged me) because it was technically illegal to have any tint on the front, I would have to pay to get it redone. The best I could do was to get a "discount" to have him redo the front.

Well you could do it cheap or you could do it right. I took mine to carnutz in bellevue. Sure it was expensive but it looks like it came from the factory that way. Plus its on your car forever unless you take that sh** off.

How are your tinter's addressing the dot matrix? From what I remember at golden garden's most of the tint done on the Z/G's there had problems with dot matrix adhesion leaving a ring around the windows. This IMO is the most important question to ask, and tint is not perfect unless the tinter can get the tint to stick to the dot matrix

I appreciate your advice and
I do agree that spending a little more for better is a good choice in most situations.
However, I DO still think it is way too expensive for tint alone, over 200, and
I believe I could get as-good a tint for less than that price.

Just waiting till my plates arrive for tint at the moment though.
Pretty much decided on 20% across
