Very smart move. I did the same thing a couple of years back when I purchased a 1992 240SX as a daily driver. $70 a week for gas in the Z was too much for me.

my work truck gets about 13. my play truck gets about 10!! the Z averages about 16, the vette gets about 18 ave!! seen the vette pull down 30 on the freeway though. it actually is a good day when i can drive the Z to save on gas!

To the OP. i think im going to take a step in that direction as well and get a little 500-1000$ beater (maybe a little more) and get like 35mpg. cause DAMN gas is gettin up there.... i just paid 4.15 at shell yesterday in the lynnwood area....
