Default Clutch Question

I've read the opinions on the other threads, but I can't seem to get a solid info on what clutch to go with.

I'm looking for something that will hold up to or slightly beyond 500whp. Any suggestions on which clutch and flywheel to go with. Looking for opinions from those who have FI setup and have used the clutch hard on track and/or drag strip and use it as a DD. Basically, what clutch setup can you beat up and get longevity out of it.

Need to replace my stock soon and any hard fact knowledge of a good set up, will be appreciated.

don't get JWT. Milou ran that set-up, and it felt worse than mine. I have the ACT 6puck and prolite flywheel. Holds the power very well, but it feels very weird, and the engagement point is almost non existant (very easy to stall). Hope this info helps. I believe colin runs a triple carbon clutch, and pat runs a prolite flywheel.

I'm not FI, but I autoX/track my Z...I'm running UR's 6 puck clutch w/ their flywheel - works great, not very streetable (but you can still drive it through traffic if needed). When ambient temps are high and I get stuck in traffic, it can start to act up...from what I've read, it's the OE clutch slave having issues w/ the extra pressure.

I've had a jwt clutch/flywheel in for about 25k miles now. I do track/autox on it, and it's still streetable and has held up. Unfortunately, I'm not FI tho, so I can't tell you much about that. I do like the quick engagement and the lighter flywheel for heel/toe stuffs.

My budget? Since I only make 200 per month, take away bill's and gas, that leaves me with 17.50 for the clutch. j/k.

I don't want to spend more than 1500. I will be rebuilding the block and heads later so I want something I can beat up for a bit and still use it for a little while after the build. With the build, I should be able to push 500+ to the wheel.

I was told the ACT 6 puck Sprung, Heavy Duty Pressure Plate (3200lbs), throw out bearing with the JWT Flywheel, would be a pretty good setup. Keep in mind, I don't daily drive this car and rarely sit in traffic.

Could you expand on "the engagement point is almost non-existent"?

you got like a 5mm engagement point play from not engaging to fully engaged. If you miss it slightly, you stall. Happens quite often actually.

I've got an ACT Prolite 13lb flywheel and ACT SS clutch disc with heavy duty pressure plate sitting here. Had it for a year, and still haven't put it in yet! It'll be going in within the next month or so. Keep in mind my Vortech makes decent hp, but nothing like a turbo when it comes to tq.

The JWT clutch/flywheel setup is great for NA, but I don't think it will stand up to FI abuse. At the same time, with your Stillen setup, you don't need anything crazy either, like Colin's, which was around $2K for the clutch alone iirc. I remember you mentioning you were going to go TT, so if that's the case, you might as well get a setup that will work for that.

I will be building my motor. It will be close to the Enjuku car. 4.2 liter block with Cosworth heads and Stillen SC. It should push somewhere around 500+ whp.
