When I first heard the new name "Thunder" I had to chuckle. Sounds like a WNBA type name.
The college I attended used to have a decidedly non-PC nickname, and a few years back they held this big contest involving students, alums, and staff to come up with a new name. Suggest a new name, then vote on the finalists, etc. The masses came up with the "Wheaton Thunder." Thunder? You got to be joking. You can't draw a picture of thunder. So, predictably, the logo has a cloud and a lightning bolt in it. Sigh.
Oh yeah, goodbye Sonics. I for one won't miss you a bit. And now OKC probably thinks they've hit the big-time because they've got a "pro" basketball team. Should we tell them that this collection of players is semi-pro at best?

People didn't support them, yet they are upset when they leave? Why? Better yet, why are more and more teams demanding that cities foot the bill for a new stadium or arena? Millions of dollars go into these teams, and they rake in the cash from marketing. Why should I as a taxpayer have to foot the bill to support a business? It is simple. You win, people jump on your bandwagon and buy your gear. Take those profits and buy your team the home it desires.
