Default My Z is getting surgery....

I am so sad!!! My baby Z got broken into!! I'm sooooo pist and I feel like kicking someone in the *****. They tore apart my front console and took my navigation system. They took the time to tape my car window so that it wouldn't set the alarm off when they broke it. It makes me wonder how the heck they knew my car had a navigation. My car was parked in a secure garage at my apartment, so I thought it was safe. I know I might just be paranoid but I took my car in for a full detail to Derek's Detail shop 4 days ago and it just seems odd that my car got broken into soon after. Anyone ever heard of or had any problems with the that detail place? Maybe I'm just being paranoid and I shouldn't assume things but it makes me suspicious...
So now it's in the shop and will be getting surgery for the next couple weeks.

that blows. I wouldn't call it paranoia, it is a odd coincidence that just days after someone got some personal time with your car, that it was broken in to .. they got time to scope it out, see if it had an alarm, what kind of alarm, what sets it off..

its all just fingerpointing until you get something more concrete though. any other evidence that makes you wonder if they had any involvement?

if i get my car detailed they are not getting my personal info =/ why would they need it in the first place?

That's crazy. It's not exactly quick to take all of that stuff out. And in a secured garage? wtf?

At least you have insurance.

Holy **** dood.

You have an automatic 350z.

I know, I know, bad time for a joke. On a serious note, I don't think you're being suspicious at all. I would do some more investigating on where you took your car. Maybe even subpoena for customer contact information to support your claim. Seems pretty fishy for me. Hopefully insurance covers it.

apt garages can suck for this very reason. if they are able to get in to your garage, they have privacy while they pull **** out..

is it possible to duplicate the signal programmed into your home link, on to an outside device? do you have your garage programmed into your home link?

that sucks to hear...very similar thing happened to me in my secure condo garage with my z, except my wheels got jacked. Also, IIRC bumpinjeep got his wheels jacked right outside a detail shop too. Find out which detail shop he took his to.

bumpinjeep had his wheels stolen the day he dropped his car off at the detail shop, so I don't think you're being paranoid at all.

SlowZster, im pretty sure it isnt Currency,

Reason #1, His is a 6spd, I almost bought his red 350z from Lynnwood Honda before Currency did but didnt feel it was worth 19k for an enthusiast that was red.

Reason #2, The OP is allegedly a Girl. Given Ty (currency) is a *****, that doesnt make him female.

Now OP, show pics to prove that you are indeed a female non scamming scammer lol

Also, If you need help doing an insurance claim and getting everything fixed pm me as i work directly in that field (we would direct bill your insurance company get your navi back get your dash fixed etc)

Whoa I'm kinda lost now. I'm not Currency and yeah I'm a girl, so you can't make fun of me for driving an automatic :P
As for everything else, my insurance is getting this all fixed up and thankfully my deductible is only $100. In the meantime while my car is getting fixed I'm driving an Acura 3.5RL sooooo sloooooow.
My insurance company sent me about $2000 to replace my navigation but now I'm scared to put anything fancy in it. I'm thinking of going with a cheap cd player and buying a Tom Tom and using the rest of the money to tint my windows. Any thoughts? Do you think that's too ghetto?

if you search through the forums a bit I saw a post not too long ago for a tom tom system that fit PERFECTLY inside the navi hutch, and you could even close the door to conceal it. they are easier to steal then the navi system you had though.. so you might as well get an in dash system installed again.

btw, cheap head unit would be 200-300$ + install, a tom tom can run 2-600$ and tint is around 200$, that leaves you with plenty to spare..

with the spare money, I would invest in a two way paging alarm with a good range, so the next time **** goes down, you can hear it and do something about it. being a chicky you might be less inclined to run down and beat some ***, but at least you can call the cops.
