Thanks WSP, I feel safer already.
It's nice to know that the WSP is concerned about keeping things safe for all of us. Not that they would be doing this for any other reason.... would they?

The Washington State Patrol is sending out motorcycle troopers to look for speeders and aggressive drivers on Interstate 5 Oct. 22-23.

Drivers traveling on Interstate 5 between Vancouver, Wash., and Bellingham Wednesday and Thursday can expect heavy speeding enforcement.
The Washington State Patrol is sending out 37 of its 44 motorcycle troopers to look for speeders and aggressive drivers on those days, said Sgt. Dale Lathan, a Patrol spokesman.
WSP Chief John Batiste said he hopes the emphasis will help prevent traffic collisions.
"We continue to see speeding and aggressive driving as a main cause in traffic collisions in our state," he said in a news release. "We want drivers to slow down and drive safely."

Wow. I can only imagine seeing 37 cops on the way up to Seattle. What a waste of tax payer money. They should just up the limit to 90. There's nothing between here and there anyway.
Aggressive driving?! I've almost been in way more accidents in this state in the two years I've lived here than I EVER was in Detroit because the drivers here are such puss|es. What's their definition of "aggressive"? "That guy used his turn signal, that's aggressive behavior!" "That guy merged onto the highway at 60mph instead of 14! That's aggressive!" "That guy didn't brake way too hard or too early! That's aggressive!"
Awesome.
Awesome.

You could always put on your left turn signal when in the far left lane, you might find someone smart enough to know what it means and move out of the way. If worst comes to worst, get one of these: http://leftlanedrivers.org/.

^ If someone is behind me flashing their lights at me and honking, I tend to slow down on purpose. Don't be a ***** and I'll move over myself if you're coming up on my tail pretty quickly.
I come up on them quick at first. Then I try to go around them . If I cant go around them as a last resort I start honking and flashing. I just find that people aren't paying attention or they don't care they are in the fast lane.
I believe the problem IS that people think the left lane is the fast lane. They also think that 5 over the speed limit is fast and they should be allowed to drive for miles in that lane.
The left lane is the PASSING LANE. If you aren't actively passing, GTFO!

I honestly think people are ****ing retarded and just don't know that the left lane is the faster/passing lane. People should have to go through a quick rehash course when they get their license renewed.

OLYMPIA - Nine State Patrol troopers are on paid leave as part of a criminal investigation concerning possible phony college diplomas that the troopers may have used to obtain higher pay grades, a patrol spokesman said Monday.
The investigation began after information came to light about a Spokane diploma mill that offered fraudulent online high shool and university degrees for a fee, said Jeff DeVere, who is in charge of government and media relations for the patrol.
The patrol launched an internal audit to determine whether any of their listed degrees were fraudulent, he said.
As part of the patrol’s union contract, troopers can obtain a 4 percent pay increase for a bachelor’s degree, and a 2 percent increase for a two-year or master’s degree, DeVere said.
DeVere cautioned that the patrol is investigating whether the troopers obtained bogus diplomas.
Some online institutions allow applicants to pay a fee and obtain a diploma with little or no coursework, he said.
Criteria that the patrol is looking at includes whether the institutions are accredited and whether they have real coursework and syllabi, he said.
“These are allegations at this point,” DeVere said. “We don’t know if they are really valid.”
While being in possession of a bogus degree is not illegal, DeVere said a crime may have occurred if a trooper fraudulently used that degree to obtain a higher pay grade.
DeVere said he would not name any of the institutions that investigators are looking at.
After the investigation is complete, the cases will be turned over to the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, DeVere said.
Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Jon Tunheim said that none of the cases had been referred to his office as of Monday.
In considering whether to file criminal charges, Tunheim said whether there was intent to defraud is one of the elements that the office will consider.
The patrol is reviewing its oversight and monitoring of troopers who apply for higher pay grades based on their college degrees, so that fraudulent diplomas won’t slip throught the cracks, DeVere said.
He added that once the criminal investigation is complete, an administrative investigation of the troopers also could lead to internal discipline of the troopers.
“Certainly, if this is proven true, they could face discipline up to and including termination,” DeVere said.
+1000, F***ing hippies! Move your economy box/Prius into the right lane!
My economy box doesn't see the left lane unless passing.

Does anyone think its OK to flash your high beams at cars using the left lane as a normal lane, like they do in Germany on the Autobahn? Just wondering what everyone thinks about that.
