So, for a while now I've been having a problem where my door chime, turn signal indicators, bright indicator, and auto-dimming don't work. I finally got around to taking it in after having gone through all of the fuses and everything that *I* could think of.
Since wasuber knows Seth G. over there in sales, I talked to him at the last meet that we had when he came out to lunch with us, and decided to take it in to them. Despite all of the "don't go there!" that the community feels, I thought I'd give it a shot.
It went in this morning around 9:00 and I picked up a rental since I didn't know how long they would have it and it was going to be warranty work. I got a call today at 3:30 from Dave S. in service, "I have great news, and not so great news."
Uh-oh.
The great news was that car was fixed and ready to go. The not-so-great news was that the problem was traced to a missing (yes, missing) fuse in the kick panel fuse block, and wasn't a warranty repair. However, Dave S. took care of the shop fee and labor for me, and I compensated them for the day of having the rental.
How a fuse went missing, randomly, I don't know. Since the problem started when I went out and started my car one day, it's not like it was intentionally removed, and the tech that did the diagnosis looked for and couldn't find a fuse that would have fallen out. Not as though they fall out anyway. If you've ever had to pull a fuse from there, you know what I mean.
The tech also advised me that, according to Nissan, the Sylvania SilverStar turn signal bulbs that some of us run could potentially route power back through the system and cause issues since they're dual-filament as opposed to singal filament. He personally didn't buy it, and I'm not so sure that I do either, but that's what Nissan says. Just a heads up.
At any rate, the non-warranty problem was fixed for the price of a day's worth of a rental car, with no outstanding issues (so far).
So for all of the -1 to Eastside Nissan that's going around, here's a +1 for them, a +1 for Dave S., +1 for their tech, +1 to Seth G., and +1 to wasuber for the initial introduction.

Eastside Nissan read and cleared my SES code prior to the NWMotoring meet I went to with you guys. They didn't give me any hassle...unlike Korum Nissan....who wants to charge $$ for just walking around your car. Maybe Korum is in a bad financial state due to declining sales
