I.e. if you don't want to risk a deadly weapon charge you need to be looking at pepperspray or tasers.

Chances are if you need a bat you need to be walking the other direction. And if you really really need that bat, you really ought be bringing a gun not a bat.

Just my thoughts.

rob - I agree with everything you said, more or less working with what I have. everytime I consider buying a hand gun I think about what else I could better spend that 300-1000$ on. it'll happen sometime soon though.

I hear you on the cost. But it's easy to find well maintained examples for cheap right now with the economy. And I like the peace of mind...

I was mainly cautioning you re: state law and deadly weapons. It would suck to be 4 on 1 and you use a bat, but its your word against theirs and now you are the agressor attacking unarmed individuals with a deadly weapon.

it'll likely never happen, it's just for the peace of mind. I'd rather talk my way out of any situation before it came down to that, but I've had enough scares that were 2vs1/3vs1/4vs1. it's a plus to living in Everett and being around drunk people.

I can relate to this, tried making peace with some local guys late last night. i went thinking I was going to talk it out. Came down to a 3vs1 situation, hate people that don't fight 1 on 1. ***'s gotta jump someone try to make peace....

my 14" knife I carry on the side of my seat saved me once as well. Downtown seattle coming out of Belltown Billiards, my friend was blacked out, kept hitting on this girl with her boyfriend and 2 other bigger guys there with him. I ended up getting him away, but then the 3 guys decided to grab maglights from the back of their tahoe and come to surround me. After I got him away, I had gone back to my car and grabbed my knife just in case. When they came up to me I tried to explain that he was blacked out, I appologized for his behavior, and kept trying to difuse the situation. Problem was that they had been drinking as well, and now they weren't thinking clearly. 1 guy swong with the maglight and hit me in my stomache (those things hurt like hell). I immediately unsheathed my knife from behind my back, and proceeded to lunge after one of the guys with it trying to kill him. As soon as I started to lunge, a cop turned on his lights and siren. Apparently he had been watching this whole thing from the alley next to us. The 3 guys threw their maglights into the bushes right under the b ridge we parked under, so I followed suit with my knife and with my sheath. We proceeded to get questioned and all that fun stuff, but the cop didn't see any weapons or anything, just saw a fight starting to break out. I'm sure if the cop hadn't stepped in, either those 3 people would be dead, or I would be dead. Oh well. I still carry my knife with me everywhere I go, and would carry a gun instead, but due to legal things from when I was a kid, I am not legally allowed to own, carry, or fire a weapon for the rest of my life I ended up having to get a 3 star general's permission to join the army because it would break that rule...anyway, just thought I would give my 2cents, and share my simillar story.

stop by later then. You can borrow one of them, or I can just roll down there with you...I have been in a bad mood lately and would love to get some aggression out. Call me at work, or on my cell after 7:30 since I left my cell at my house today.

I don't like to fight period. I am a super easy going guy, incredibly easy to get along with, and am quick to own up to my mistakes and make things right. Problem being, mid 20s and still going to bars and clubs every now and then, there's always some ********(s) with a chip on their shoulders and the alcohol just makes them want to find fights.

Seattle is especially bad for this ****. I don't know what it is. We had another event where some guys followed me and a friend out of a place as we were walking back to his eclipse. We heard him following us but meh, he could just be going to his ride, after my buddy clicked his remote unlock and the lights flashed we heard him walking faster and faster and eventually to a jog, we knew he was going to try to jack the car at that point so we rushed into his car and he slammed it into reverse, the guy tried to grab his door handle and he sped off and flipped a ***** and tried to run the guy over..

I never expierienced this kind of **** until 21+. Makes me dislike bars and clubs, I almost always prefer to just drink and have a good time at my friends houses now.

Sorry to hear that flip - what's going on that would make these guys want to find you *again*? this kind of **** is usually one-offs.

damn drew that is some crazy stuff. those situations are incredibly hard to diffuse, and if they've already shown intent to cause serious harm.. glad you had protection with you.

from the sounds of it I am amazed the cop didn't see the weapons.

If he had seen the weapon that I was carryign I would have been screwed. I believe that is another felony Too bad he didn't see me git hit either though. I believe that a couple of cars were blocking alot of his view. When I got hit though, I buckled over, then stood back up with straight adrenalin and rage. I have an extremely bad temper at times, but for the most part nobody ever sees that part of me.

Some high school teenager type ****. Supposedly they said I dont say what's up to people when they see me. And I would have said what's up or something to them but yeah i didnt see or hear them.

The only reason they stopped was my cousin came running and I remember them saying "this **** aint over"

This morning i get a text " bryce we know where you work/live and we are on your forums lurking. so dont be suprised WHEN you see us again.
