I'm in no way pointing fingers at you or anyone else that I know and hung out with. The people who were originally part of the EDBs are my friends like you, Pat, Lev, Eric, Colin, Scott, Bryce, etc and I know you guys are joking. It's the NEW members who DON'T know it's really a big joke that are taking it the wrong way. Just like Killa beez or 350zlowlife or xtremspeed that takes it to a whole another level.
Take it for what it's worth but someone needs to let the new members know it's a joke. I know some of the new members will hate me for saying this but after seeing my buddy leaves the crew because of this is a little ridiculous. Anyways, I'm not here to try and start **** that's why the original post had nothing to do with it. I'm just letting new members know it's a joke and that's all it should be instead of letting the attitude takes a more serious tone.

We got an unjustly deserved nickname from a few people getting butt-hurt because of the actions of a few select individuals that was meant in jest. We thought it was funny, ran with it, and give people what they expect from us when we show up to meets. If new members want to come in and act like *******s because they think that's what we do, they won't make it very far in the group.
I don't have beef with anyone. But, like Bryce would say, "Don't worry about what we be doin."
I didn't spend time chatting with killa beez at the last meet, but for the record, Walt (350zlowlife) is good peoples.

If any new member embodied the spirit of the ED's, it's Arialdrone. That guy was awesome. Showed up, got right in on the fun. Let us draw on his car and had a great sense of humor about it. That's an epic first impression.

I think the biggest thing about the origins of the nick is that by the time we actually get to where we're going, we've all already been hanging out for an hour or more because people are always late, the order is... well, chaos, and then everyone is bitching about food. Because of all that, we always end up showing up and showing out.
I know that personally, whenever I show up, and there isn't anywhere to run off to right away, I'm walkin' around checkin' out cars.

The story of how we got nicknamed the Elitist Douchebags:
We got the nickname because of GG. Some of the 240sx guys got all hurt because we were ragging on their cars. Some people were making fun because their cars were piles of ****. Flat black/grey/green rattlecan paintjobs, stripped interior with 1 seat and burgundy paint inside. Crap sounding exhaust and just piles of garbage in general. The same basic thing rolling in time after time. Some of the cars were nice (240's, RX7's, 510's, etc), but there were as many if not more of each model car that looked like crap.
If those guys were driving nice new Mustang GTs and Saleens and a bunch of kids showed with foxbody 4 cylinders that were beat up and primered with exhaust ticks, they'd probably crack jokes too.

exactly how i saw it too. but i didn't want to start a NWN vs 350z war. Coming from you has alot more meaning. I understand both sides. most of us 240 people are cheap, but not all that cheap if you think about it. we do more than just wheels, and dd.
My smack talk - there were 5 nismo 350z's, nice cars obviously but 40k for a 350z that has the most horrible bumpers. totally suprising that 5 people thought they were worth it. Adam said it best "the back looks like a jack-o-latern (spelling?)"

It wasn't as bad back then when I had my 33 and most of their cars were at least one color and didn't have zip ties. But now what the fawk do you see?? Multi colored panels with front bumpers held up by zip ties and they think it's cool. Some of their cars were nicely done and I'll give credit where credit is deserved, but the majority was straight up hooptified.
If they are going to be hating on us for having nice cars and calling us ED's, then I'll be returning the favor and hating on them for having POS's

Honostly when I first heard that we're classified as the "elitist douchebags" I laughed to myself... because stereotypically that's correct, but stereotypically were nothing compared to e46 m3 drivers. hahaha. comming from bimmerforums.com I would know...

i actually hope i am part of the ed group. i wasn't at gg but have been to other nwn meets, and ya, alot of the cars are complete crap. really don't feel the need to converse with someone about how they rattle canned their car and want a pat on the back for it.
