I believe they just plug into the info bus port to see if you have any codes, other than that you will pass no problem. They only use the sniffer if they can't link up with the car bus info.

How was your kit tuned (e.g. SS box, unichip, flash/UTEC, OSIRIS)?
CEL = fail
There are four parameters monitored by the ECU. If any of the four are not set = fail.
I went to emissions right after I had my car tuned for the second time (long depressing story) and they had not reset. Emissions advised me to continue driving for awhile to see if they would reset. If they don't reset by the time my tabs are due, I can try to pass the sniffer test.
I'm tuned on the rich side, however, so my tuner says he will need to create an "emission control" map that will enable me to pass the sniffer.

If you have been driving around for at least a day w/o throwing any codes, you should pass fine.
From what I read, you might be able to disable the ecu from throwing a code but I really doubt most tuners will know how to do this. Only something like TS or UpRev would be able to anyway.

I was originally runnning a Technosquare flash / UTEC and throwing P1283 and P0300 codes left and right. Turns out the flash from Techno was not scaled correctly which caused hotstart, idle, and other problems. The Z was down for weeks trying to tune around the bad flash. Went over to Intec Racing and was tuned with Osiris by Uprev....no more UTEC.
They can turn off the sensors or expand the parameters so the sensors never throw to begin with, but when the car is tuned properly there's no need to do it.
I need to get back to emissions to see if my sensors have registered OK yet.
