Why gravel is bad....

So after playing a show in Portland I decided to head back to my hotel. I turned onto another street and while turning hit a patch of gravel from road construction putting the car into a spin. If I had another 2 feet I would have pulled out of it but alas I bounced up a curb and swung into a steel mail box post.
I had no idea how the car lost control until later when I was waiting for the tow truck. Followed my path and right where the car spun out there was a damn gravel patch, boo to the construction crew. So I ended up walking away with a sore shoulder and neck however it could have been worst. If you notice the hole in my door there was a chunk of steel stuck in there, had that been 2 inches longer it would have got my leg.
So what now? Well I have the car covered of course and my insurance is paying for all aftermarket parts. One more writeup needs to be done this week and the car will be shipped back to GTM to be fixed. If its totaled which I doubt they will do because of the value I have a new project in mind. The car will be fixed more then likely is my guess.

How can you be so sure that it's not totaled? All airbags deploying are a high chance of it being totaled. You pay extra for the aftermarkets parts to be insured?
Anyways I don't get why there are so many accidents with people losing control in there Z so easily.

While that sucks, you're right, it could have been worse.
The bottom line is that it's just a car, and that you're alright.
Good luck at GTM, and Dave is right; hopefully it'll be ready for spring/summer!

Speaking of "getting ready" if you end up parting that thing out, e.g. the turbo is damaged and the insurance guys fix it... I could... you know... Sorry, that sounded like a ***** move... nevermind, I just slapped myself in the face for it.
Regardless, good to see you're okay considering how hard of hit the front end took and with the airbags deploying. Best of luck getting it back to how nice you had it! You have under body damage, I'm suprised it wasn't totalled...

Thats the plan right now.

If it was a stock car they said they would have totaled it but because of the nature of the car fixing it will likely be cheaper for them in this case.
I have had the car since I bought it new in 05. Since then its been SC and TTed. Never lost control of the Z prior to this spinout. Again if there was a little more room before the curb I would have been fine...

Walked away with just a sore neck and shoulder, no need to get anything looked at though. Was lucky...

Yeah, things could always be worst. Nothing that cant be fixed or replaced. Now that the weather is turning to crap it has time to get sorted out.
Thanks to everyone for their kind words.
