Fleshing out the A/V setup

still to do:
* secure the amps subs and extra battery
* cut out holes for second set of 6.5" components right next to the stock holes
* mod the trim piece that goes over the "hump" to allow sound from both sets of 6.5" components and fit in the tweeters
* finish the sub-woofer enclosures, though I don't know if i want to go all the way to paint finish or just carpet them
* add LCD display to trunk area
* install cameras on all four corners of the car and feed them into a RCA switch to feed into the head unit to make parking and such easier and for interesting driving video
* finish passenger side dash w/ LCD display and two more cup holders... woooo cup holders
* reinstall/remake interior trim, have to wait until after the roll cage for that part though
*subscribe to Sirius so the little box isn't worthless... anyone ever used sirius? pro's/con's?
so should i carpet, paint, or vinyl wrap the sub enclosures and modified trim? im kinda at a loss as to which way to go. carpet is a helluva lot less time consuming and im not sure paint will really add much to the aesthetics

also, anyone know of a car audio RCA switch. im looking for something the will take 4 camera INputs and turn it into one OUTput that will go into the head unit. i've talked to a couple car audio shops and none of them seem to be able to find anything. if you know of a digital switch that would be cool but a mechanical one would be fine too
everything looks really good. lulz @ cupholders. are you trying to get 4 cameras on the screen at one time or be able to switch between the 4 of them? all 4 at once, not gonna happen. the manufacturer of your head unit should make a switcher to go between the 4 of them though, just check crutchfield.com (maybe this?). as for the woofer boxes painting will require hours of sanding to get everything smooth and dimple free, especially if you're gonna paint it black. imo carpet will look kinda tacky though. i'd go with a good upholstery vinyl that has leather grain (vinyl will stretch well and conform to the shape) or a fake suede (like alcantara). i do have a question for you though. are there wood boxes behind the fiber glass? if not and you're running 4 woofers in separate enclosures how will you be able to get a uniform sound out of each one?

that's pretty much the conclusion i came to, i was thinking of doing most/all of the trim (the plastic stuff at least) in a leather texture vinyl wrap
no they are separate sub in separate boxes so far. i'm thinking of doing the calculations to make some hidden bass tubes that connect each pair. ie connect the 12's to each other and the 10's to each other and tuning the 10's to hit high bass and the 12's for low bass... i know i can do it with the 12's easy but im not sure how i'd do the 10's. the 10's are so close in geometry though that it might not really be needed for them.
anyone know where to get leather textured black interior vinyl wrap? i'll google it i suppose
and thanks for the link to the switch thingy
well followed the rabbit hole from that link you gave me... the kenwood thingy wont really work for what i'm trying to do but it did give me a starting point. i found these http://www.crutchfield.com/p_469MPSS...4.html?tp=2796 if i get 3 of them i can get the inputs i want and be able to select the proper camera with a switch and a bunch of creative wiring. thanks for the starting point!!

and speaking of "best", best foam and fabric in tacoma is where i always go. they have the cheapest prices on speaker box carpet and their vinyl prices are pretty good too. they're cheaper than your local fabric stores like joann or pacific, but they have way more options. they're right off 84th one block east of yakima, or 5 blocks west of pac ave.
what made you decide to run 10s and 12s at the same time? unless you do some careful eq tuning, you're gonna get a lot of cancellation and combative frequencies.
i don't think that'll handle a video signal though. you're best option is to probably just call crutchfield and as them what they suggest. they always have knowledgeable people.

i originaly bought the 10's with the idea that they were going to satisfy my bass needs/desires. i was wrong so im adding 12's. if i had done better planning before i might have gone with 8's. i also have 3 sets of JL 6.5 woofers 2 sets of xr-650cxi's and 1 set of c5-650's

cause if you have those^, if i were you, i'd just eliminate the 10s altogether and save yourself a major tuning headache.
if i were you i'd just ditch the 10s then. maybe you could mold the box to hold an 8" driver? it would be best and easiest to just eliminate them altogether and just tuning your 12s to a tiny bit higher freq. range say from 20-120hz, and let the component drivers handle from 120 to about 800-1k hz. just my 2 cents though. also interested in the final product.
yeah i know... im not even sure the w7's would fit in the little box... it's not too deep. most of the air space is actually in the bottom of the box.
