Default Washington is beautiful

Out here in Lacey for the Holidays. Just wanted to say that it is beautiful out here. Not as cold as I thought it was going to be...went running this morning and it felt nice out.

I hate the freeways here, everyone drives sloooow, but I'm used to the SoCali freeways.

What kind of family things are fun to do out here??

Yes it is....I'm from Jersey originally but once I was stationed here back in 2000, I knew I had to come back. I call this "God's Country" lol

You outta come out in the summer time, much much nicer.....as far as family things, there is Mt. Ranier, Ocean Shores, Pike's Place Market up in Seattle is always a good time.....welcome and enjoy yourself!

yea it's warmed up a little bit compared to last week, the winter time truely sucks for washington, too much rain/clouds so everyone is depressed, and people drive like idiots.

the few summer months in the PNW are the best kept secret by anyone who lives here. beautiful sunshine and not too hot, and a lot of nice places to just cruise with the windows down

The air up in Washington is deff. fresh! Not really much to do in Lacey, but right now with this cold weather, the only thing I can really think of is Pikes Place in Seattle? The original Starbucks is in Pikes Place. Maybe check out the Space Needle? (don't get food there).

Oh, did you bring your Z? I would love to see your car in person! It's been one of my favorite on the board.

EDIT: Nvm, just saw your post... fffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

Washington is one of the prettiest states I have ever been in. I can't wait to go back. Going to get a decent camera to do it some justice.

No doubt man. My parents love it here and they moved from Colorado Springs, which is beautiful in it's own way. It is just amazingly green here. If I came straight here after being in Iraq for a year I'd have a heart attack going from a place where everything, EVERYTHING is phucking tan, to this beautiful state.

Drive over to Richland and the tan will return.

But that's why I love it.

High desert, Alpine, forest all in a days drive!

haha, might have to do that. I'm just surprised, I thought it would be much colder out here, isn't as bad as I thought...my pops loves the fishing out here. We lived in Alaska for six years and he said it's pretty close to the same. Loves the quality of the game out here.

If you are in Lacey and looking for family things... There is Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma. They are pretty good and Point Defiance Park is pretty nice. Some great places to eat along Ruston Way as well. Washington State History museum in Tacoma, Tacoma Museum of Glass...

Seattle has lots of great touristy things to do, Seattle Center, Pioneer Square, Pike Place Market, Seattle underground tour (that still in operation?). Another great Northwest thing to do, and I think it is open on weekends, is the Indian concession on Blake Island. Great "traditional" salmon bake and show. You can catch a boat from Seattle although I've only been there by personal boat.

If you like snow sports, head to Crystal Mountain for some skiing. If you like the Ocean, you can head out to Ocean Shores to see what cold, stormy ocean beaches are like.

Another great one that I forgot to mention is the Museum of Flight.

I'm sure there is more but I can't think of anything right now.

Yep, but it rains a lot. Folk hate rain. When Wash is beautiful it is...The rest of the time it is cold and gray...
