Washington is beautiful
^ this
I love it.
I'd move to Iceland in a heartbeat if they had a nuke plant.
Dark, snow/rain, cold. You can have Florida.
every cali friend I've had come up here is always really happy with the experience - always citing how beautiful it is, all of the scenery and trees and what not .. living here my entire life I don't know anything else so it surprises me.

I can't stand SoCal, but he is really enjoying the Thousand Oaks area.
Shoot, when I was living in Arizona and Cali I felt depressed, hated everything about it, the massive amounts of sun and heat made it worse than any other place that I've lived. As soon as I came back up here, I was ten times happier.
but you right, to each there own.
Hraesvelg i agree with you.. you all can have your hot places give me cold and grey and I'm happy.
Well, my son went to SoCal to go to college. His idea was that since he has lived in the PNW all his life, he wanted a taste of something different. I don't know... sunshine... beaches... warm surf... what's the appeal?

Wow...I'm super late, lol, pm me details on that thing! And don't play with my emotions, of course I'd like to go for a ride! My sister and I might come up there a couple times this week, I'll let you know when.
^^
Thanks for all the information dhays, very much appreciated!
LOLZ at all the cold and grey comments. I guess for me visiting, this is a wonderful change from SoCali. Plus I'm freaking half German, was born there and lived there twice, very cold and rainy during this season as well. I don't mind this type of weather, actually it hasn't really been that clear here except for the first day that I got here on Friday.
For me, the biggest thing in SoCal is the luxury of being able to drive the Z like an @ss for 350 days out of the year if I wanted to and I still have a DD for those 15 days of "rain"

Seattle has lots of great touristy things to do, Seattle Center, Pioneer Square, Pike Place Market, Seattle underground tour (that still in operation?). Another great Northwest thing to do, and I think it is open on weekends, is the Indian concession on Blake Island. Great "traditional" salmon bake and show. You can catch a boat from Seattle although I've only been there by personal boat.
If you like snow sports, head to Crystal Mountain for some skiing. If you like the Ocean, you can head out to Ocean Shores to see what cold, stormy ocean beaches are like.
Another great one that I forgot to mention is the Museum of Flight.
I'm sure there is more but I can't think of anything right now.
