Hey all.
This has been discussed but I hadn't posted anything so....

Let's take a drive up the Clackamas River this coming Saturday 8/14.
Plan to leave Oregon City Shopping Center at 9:30 am. Oregon City shopping Center is exit 9 off Hwy. 205. It sits at the intersection of 99E (McLoughlin Blvd and I-205).
We'll take a few country roads and roughly follow the river past Carver and Estacada. We'll follow the Clackamas us to Ripplebrook Ranger Station. The plan is to take a couple of forest service roads and wind our way over to Highway 26, then almost to Government Camp. We'll take Highway 35 into Hood River, then down Hwy. 84 headed for Portland. We'll stop in Cascade Locks for an ice cream cone and those of us who live north of the Columbia may choose to cross Bridge of the Gods and go home on 14. The rest of the crew can follow 84 on home.
There are not a lot of places to eat once you leave Estacada so plan to bring a lunch with you. We'll find a spot under some trees to eat.
There's also not a lot of places for gas along the way so make sure you've got a pretty full tank.
This isn't the sort of drive where we can make much time until we get to 84 so plan on it taking a good part of the day.
See ya Saturday morning! The weather's supposed to be getting hotter so a nice drive up a river should be nice and it's a beautiful route.
