Dunno if this has ever been asked...
You mean tinting it with something like window tint? Well getting a clear bra installed is already expensive as hell. I wouldn't want to think about how much covering a whole car would cost. At that price, you might as well just repaint the car whatever color you want. Sounds kinda silly to me.
lol ok i get it now i was like laying down tint on your car sounds retarded but now i get what ur saying but idk i would say its possible but wouldnt that be the same as the cheap paint jobs that people like maaco would do though?
I have no clue, I don't think so- I am just wondering if anybody has ever heard of doing it- I was thinking about it the other day. Clear coat that is tinted. I think if it isn't being done- that it should be. It would be useful to any color of car (with the exception of cars that are already darker in color.
Tinted clears are used all the time by custom painters, on hot rods, for example. Haven't you ever seen a "Candy Apple Red"? Search Google, and you'll get many hits, I'm sure. Or check the House of Kolor site, or maybe George Barris.

Would prolly work best if ur car is white.... Sounds interesting, but after all that cost y not jus get it vinyl wrapped? its like 2k for a whole car... If you don't like it you can take it off or change the wrap......
I don't see it being cost efficient. it's not like you can roll the car in and just shoot new clearcoat on it. I bet there is still a large amount of prep work, and if they went too deep they'd have to do paint repair etc.
I love vinyl on cars. easy to change up and not terribly expensive. I've spent maybe 70$ on vinyl for my car and I've made some changes that make it really pop from a stock car. talking about pre-cut and designed pieces - wrapping the whole car is really only a few hundred in materials, the majority of the cost is in labor. it's DIY capable if you are patient enough to learn how to do the harder areas of the car : )

But can vinyl really look good? I mean, I don't know honestly, I've never seen it done personally- does it look flat or can it be glossy? Obviously the ease of installation holds some weight to it all, what about durability, and cleaning and maintenance?
they do come in gloss but I think it would be harder to keep it looking good. lots of things stick to vinyl easier then a waxed/sealed paint, the good news is you can pretty much just blast water on most things to get it off : )
definitely worth looking into mang

the last 2 pics have the carbon fiber hood on just to see if I wanted to keep it carbon or not, but I dont. Gonna either wrap it or trade someone for there stock hood. Got confirmation that the side skirts will be here Tuesday or Wednesday. Will update with pics again around that time. There is still a little bit of touch up to do on some edges and such where orange is kinda peekin through but its an easy touch up. As for the roof, Im gonna peel the black off and wrap it with black carbon fiber, and do my interior trim pieces the same black carbon fiber.

Yeah, it is starting to look like I want to do this above all other things. Was this a DIY job? I'm curious to find out if it is a pain in the *** to do yourself, or to just pay for the professional job.
My biggest concern would be seems and how to deal with that. I bet price wise I could save myself 1K at least if I were to do it myself, but then I run into the problem where if I suck at it, I will have a bunch of vinyl- and just say screw it and bring it to a pro. Then I'm out my own time and material.
