Here's the information for anyone booking a room Friday or Saturday night at Lake Tulloch Resort;
Rooms are normally $139. Call and ask for the Z rate of $99 per night or simply ask for the manager Rob McLaughlin. Let Rob know your one of the Z's making the Yosemite run.

The website for directions is: www.laketullochresort.com
Please let us know who has reservations Fri. night, who will meet us in the morning, and if anyone will drive up with us Fri. after a detail day in Modesto.

I'll be leaving from the Eastbay and will most likely meet the group in Modesto since we have to go this way. If you want to cruise Saturday morning, let's meet up at the Green House Marketplace in San Leandro.

If you mean that twistie road on the way to Yosemite, yes. That's the only way I know how to get there.

* It seems that the road to the grove is still closed this season ( see http://www.nps.gov/yose/now/conditions.htm for updates ) if it is open by the time of the run, I will be going there, if not, we'll look into other plans.

By the way, if anyone is staying on for Sunday, my wife and I are going to go visit the big trees in Mariposa Grove, somewhat south of Yosemite Valley, near the south entrance of the park. We will probably leave the the LTR around 8:00am to head down there.
This used to be one of the places you could drive your car through a tree tunnel, at some point, somebody realized it may not be the best thing for the tree, so now you can't. Still they are some amazing trees, and if you have never seen Great Sequoia trees, this might be a good time to do so.
After Mariposa Grove we will probably be heading back on 41 / 49 / 140 / 59 / 152 , east/north/peninsula folk could go back 41 / 49 / 99 / 580 if they wanted to as well (or chuck the whole thing and go back the way you came up).
Anyone know of a neat town to stop and get lunch in on the way back? I see names on the map like Bootjack, Mariposa and Catheys Vally but have no idea what is in them.

Camera. Dig. or 35mm. If a SLR, I sugest a good tele lens around 400mm as well as a normal.
A good set of binoculars.
A hat and windbreaker to walk up to some of the falls. It can get very wet, because you can get very close.
Last week it was warm durring the day in the high 70's. i wore shorts and had sweats to go over them as Yosemite can get cold when the sun drops.
Sunscreen.
