Angry rear-ended!

I was delivering some of the food for a party that my half-a-block-away friend was hosting, so I parked on the street outside his complex. Had a good time. When I came out, I noticed that the car in front of me was too close to my front bumper for comfort. Sure enough, there was a little card on my windshield. San Jose Police Department Incident Card, telling about a hit & run. I followed my gut, and went around to the back of my baby. The rear bumper cover is pretty much caved in right around the license plate frame, and you could practically read the other person's license plate in the imprint it left. There was also a piece of a bumper left still on the asphalt right behind my car. I'm so pissed off!

I'm already going to be paying through the nose for insurance because of a ticket in '03, another one in '04, and a collision (bad one) in '04. Will reporting this jack up my insurance even higher?

Sorry to hear about your incident.

Since it's not your fault, your insurance cannot and should not go higher.

Goodluck!!

Sorry to hear bro... With the police's corroboration of the hit and run incident, I would think that they wouldn't consider this to be an incident to increase your insurance. At least I'd hope not. You need anything from me, hit me up.

damn, that sucks!! I think reporting to the insurance is probably your best bet since there is already a police report on it and if you have the imprint of the license plate, it's even better!!
good luck.

Sorry about that Bruce. Let the cat unload on the "longlifes". :-)
Anyway, maybe it'll look even better when you get it fixed, like sort of entice them bodyshop to take out undue rock chips, etc. and let the insurance pay the bill of course for the undue incident. No your insurance will not go up, I've had the same happen to my pathfinder and it effect mine at all.

Thanks guys. I'll call the insurance folks first thing tomorrow. I guess it's time to fork over the $2400+ for my 6-month renewal. sigh

Sorry Bruce. You may have to pay for your deductible though. I remember getting a hit and run 10 years ago and I have to pay the collision deductible even though its not my fault.

Crap, that's right, the deductible is $500. May as well just not report it, huh.

It will cost more than $500 to fix it. Maybe a lot more.

It cost me $1000.00 for just one door ding. Well, you could take it to Miracle Auto body......

You should report it, as someone said above hit and run is comprehensive and won't affect your premium for your insurance. Also, you can probably find a shop that will cover your deductable (sorry, I might have said this on the other thread)... that's what I'm going to do when/if I ever report my stupid fender.. ROTFL.. (it's been almost a year, damn I'm LAZY!)

Well the guys at Modern Bench Operations estimate $800-1000, so I may have to get 21st Century in on this after all.
