Props to Audiomobile in Oakland (alarm/stereo installers)
I just had an alarm installed at Audiomobile in Oakland yesterday. They did such a great job, I figure the least I can do is plug them here and maybe send a customer their way. They do both alarms and stereo / speaker work. Call them up at 510-839-1992 and ask for Alan. He's the owner and will take good care of you. I believe he said he own's a 2003 350Z and I know he has worked on several Z's before.
I had a Compustar 2W900FM-AS (w/autostart, 2-way pager, etc.), proximity sensor, and tilt sensor installed. Over the phone, Alan quoted me $550 since I already had the base alarm system bought. When I got there, I asked if he could hard-wire my Passport radar detector for me. I figured he'd tack on an extra $30-50 for that, but he didn't...final price after 6-8 hours of labor was exactly what was quoted.
They went out of their way to do things "right", even if it meant more work taking off panels and whatnot. The attention to detail was stellar...lots of little things they did that I thought were outstanding. For example, installing the proximity sensor at such an angle that I can adjust sensitivity by removing the ring around the shifter only and sticking a screwdriver in the gap, not having to remove the entire center console. Everything is exceptionally clean and high quality. They even installed two blue LED's on opposite sides of the dash that look wicked at night when the alarm is armed.
I'll post some pictures and more detail about the install in the Audio/Video board, but I wanted to plug Audiomobile here for my fellow NorCal brethren. I will definately go back to them for my stereo and CarPC projects.
