Bay Area Speed Traps
Everyone knows of spots in their town where cops always tag speeders. I'd like start a thread that hopefully someone will make a sticky for us bay area folks. I will take all posts and add them to this first post in a big list categorized by city alphabetically.
Post in this format:
1.) City
2.) Location (street/intersection)
3.) Speed Limit
4.) Times cops are usually there (not required)
5.) Description (not required)
So here we go!
Antioch
Location: James Donlon Blvd. (anywhere)
Speed Limit: 35
Description: So many of me and my friends have gotten tickets on this road because it's a big road where you'd go 45 normally at least, but since it goes by a park, it's 35. I got a ticket doing 55 by a cop on a bike going the opposite direction. Damn moving radar.
Brentwood
Location: Balfour Road (near Albertson's)
Speed Limit: 40/45
Description: There is a point where it goes from 45 to 40 for some reason and cops love to nail people who forget that. I got a ticket doing 55, guess I like that speed since those are the only 2 tickets I've ever gotten in my 7 years of driving.
Milpitas
Location: Calaveras Blvd. (anywhere)
Speed limit: 35/40
Description: Beware of motorcycles hiding in driveways with radar guns as soon as you go over the bridge on 237 over 880 & if you're coming down the offramp from 680. Common spots they hide are Walgreens, Embassy Suites, Milpitas Blvd. intersection, & S. Abel St. intersection. They like to catch you as soon as you go over the bridge or exiting on an offramp. Very strict on red light runners as well. BEWARE!!! I see someone get pulled over almost EVERYDAY.
San Jose
Location: Blossom Hill Road (after you get off 101)
Speed Limit: 40/45
Description: Morning traffic. 2 cops waiting for car that just exit from the freeway and speed off.
Palo Alto
Location: Central Expwy
Speed Limit: 35mph
Description: central expressway after san antonio road towards palo alto - in the mornings, i see at least one or two cops by the side streets ready to nail anyone driving too fast... (n ticketing people daily)
n 35 is painfully slow on that street... :P

Redwood City
Location: Ralston or Holly Exit heading towards Redwood Shores
Speed limit: 35 (most ppl go 40)
Description: Beware of cops hiding out with radar. They love to tag people speeding or not coming to a full stop.
When in this area, make sure to come to a complete stop at all stop signs and do not drive any more than 40.
Also, they setup a sobriety checkpoint off of the Holly Exit sometimes.

SAN RAMON
680 going north or south between Crow Canyon exit and concord.
Alot of motorcycle cops that sneak up on you, I have not been a victim but have seen it. Do not speed past 70 or go into the carpool lane with one person (operating hours). We need cops, but they take it to anther level and must give tickets to earn there keep.
Castro Valley-San Ramon
Its a short cut called Crow Canyon road that goes between the cities I have listed. Half way through it turns into 2 lanes for about 1 mile and alot of cars speed to pass, watch yourself there are cops hiding behind the trees. I go to school twice a day through there and mostly see them around 3-5 p.m, when people are getting off work. There is a universal sign people have caught on too, they flash there high beam lights.

San Jose/Santa Clara Winchester Blvd between Stevens Creek and El Camino. Classic speed trap. Posted limit is 35 then drops 20 for a quarter mile then back to 35. Multiple Santa Clara PD and SJ PD stake out hidden with laser guns.

San Ramon: I agree about Crow Canyon: there often is a cop hiding on the western end of the divided section.
Danville: Driving up South side of Mt Diablo. I saw three cops from Athenian to the toll station the last time I went up the mountain. They now have 20 mph signs on Diablo. Used to be one of my favorite drives.

Sunnyvale
between Sunnyvale-Saratoga and Cezanne
speed limit: 35mph
chopper cop sits under the shade of the tree next to the concrete ToysRUs sign next to one of the driveways into that shopping strip. I've seen him pull over several vehices over the past few weeks. Yesterday, he pulled some guy over for not having his seat beat on.

San Mateo Bridge/Foster City
Location: West bound SMB on to 92
Speed Limit: 65
Coming off the San Mateo Bridge into Foster City. CHP sits on the right side of the 92 covered by bush. You can get a good look in the day time but in the evening or night you're out of luck. It's a freakin trap since coming off the bridge is down hill and you don't want to ride your breaks. Always look over your right shoulder before you hit the gas.
Golden Gate Bridge/Park Presidio/San Francisco
Location: South Bound onto Park Presidio
Speed Limit: 35
Another sneaky CHP hideout. When you're heading off the Golden Gate and then onto Park Presidio or 19th ave you need to be aware after the tunnel. CHP hides when the concrete barrier on the right ends. They back into the bush and their car is half-hidden by the bush and the barrier. If you are not paying attention...you're done!
