Default Looks like I am getting a new tranny!!

Per Robs advice, I took my car to Falore Nissan in Sunnyvale. Bob ask Vince to go for a ride with me, and Vince said my tranny is noisy, so they're ordering a new one for me......

For those who've had a tranny swap, anything I should look into or be aware of?

I've only driven one Z, so I guess I've gotten use to the tranny noise......

Hey Mood, how loud is your tranny noise? I have tranny noise, but I'm not sure if I qualify for a new tranny though.

Oh yeah, check your voicemail

I also have tranny problems and a buddy of mine has tranny noise and his car is an 05 with 1500 miles. Our tranny noise is when we are in first gear when we are rolling to a stop and accelerating at the beginning of first.

I have that, and I am getting a new tranny. Doesn't hurt to bring it in and drive around with a Tech. Only took me 15 minutes.

I have always had all sorts of weird tranny issues, and neither of the local Nissan Dealers have heard any "problems" when I have taken it in. (4 times)

Maybe I should go to a dealer that knows what to listen for...

I had mine swapped out at around 17K miles, then around 25K 2nd and 3rd were crunching a bit again. It's not the way I drive since it's all freeway miles, but I know the part# for my 2nd tranny has been updated already. I'm at 45K now and still have to bring it back but San Leandro Nissan isn't too much help. Maybe I'll look to bringing it to Sunnyvale.

I have the dreaded shifter noise but only rescently after having my tranny swapped. New tranny only has 700 miles on it.

my tranny has been making noises from day one. There is a clunking noise when I shift. Is that a problem or is that normal?

When in doubt, just bring it in under warranty. Worse case is they say it's normal, at least you know!!

Good Luck Moodie!

My tranny is also making some noise... I have an AT.
In Manual Shift mode, the Noise (sounds like grinding chain or something) starts when i shift into 3rd gear and 4th.
I dont feel it slipping or anything, just noise so far...
Taking my Z in also, I hope they can give me a straight answer on what's up with it.

Got my tranny. Big thanks for Bob and Morgan at Falore Nissan. Hassle free, and very professional.

Tranny is much quieter. With the new tranny, I also get a brand new "revised" clutch. The shifting is smoother, not as notchy, but the clutch is set a little higher. All minor, but after driving the same clutch and tranny for 3 years, I am amazed how I notice these minor changes. The feel is different, but all good.

Overall happy with the experience.
