I highly doubt they'll find out but if they did, I'm sure it'll just be a fix-it ticket.

BTW...I don't think there will be any issues using your OEM Y-Pipe but I'd rather change the Y-Pipe first prior to changing out the cats IMO. If you ever saw the OEM Y-Pipe, you'll understand. It's a tank!

Nice! If you do, you'll be the first UY I've ever seen sporting this kit .

If they catch you with test pipes it isn't just a fix it ticket, they impound the car on the spot. In socal they actually have cops with temp guages that they put up to the tailpipes to check for them. No worries just shut the car off if you get pulled over, I have TP's on my 300zx and have had no police trouble its cool if you dont make yourself noticeable(it'll be loud). I have to go through downtown in 4th at 25mph to keep my car quiet when I see a cop.

running test pipes is more than a just a fix-it ticket.

fines are somewhere around $2000 if you get caught.

the chances of a cop pulling you over on the streets for the test pipes are quite slim, but if you frequent illegal races then the chances greatly increase that cops will look for them.

Exactly,

The worst that can happen is this, Car gets impounded for 30 days, you get fined for EPA pollution and your car may have to see a Smog Referee. All paid by you of course.

Possibilities of it happening aren't huge but so you know. I guess if we get loud exhaust fines just smile and get it signed off.

My illegal intake got me a Gross Polluter violation. I was told by the cop that he could make me leave my car by the side of the road and that I'd have to find someone to tow it. But he let me drive home. I was also written up for an illegal exhaust which was later deemed legal by State of Cal BAR referee since it was catback. All in all it cost me about $100 between BAR ref fees and admin fees. I'm not sure if being caught with race pipes is different though.
