Default Poll: What suspension do you use in the Bay Area?

I'm looking at upgrading my suspension and am looking for something comfortable enough for our sh!ty roads around here. I know there are many threads about this in other forums, but a suspension that is super comfortable in Phoenix, might be terrible on our Bay Area roads. I'd like something comfortable enough for a daily drive (doesn't bounce or porpoise on our expansion joints), yet with the capability to track occasionally, and especially to enjoy the multitude of twisty roads in the Bay Area!

What are you using and why?

I'm currently using Hotchkis Springs and Sways with the stock shocks from my early rev. 2004 Roadster (2003 spring rates). It's bouncy as hell and really harsh on even the shallowest pothole, but handles great in the twisties--and the lowering is purrfect!

I'm using the Tein CS Coilovers, with EDFC.

I would reccomend them, especially with the EDFC. I wanted the same kind of ride you do... being able to cruise around without bouncing all over the place, while still having the ability to tighten 'em up for twisty roads, and track days. I like mine a lot.

Tein Flex with EDFC, Cusco sways The Flex setup is a tad firmer than stock suspension on the softest setting but also does a good job at the track when cranked down. I almost swapped out the Tein's for the JIC's since they're a better track set up but didn't want to deal with having to get out of the car to make adjustments. It's nice to be able to adjust on the fly. EDFC rocks!

Default I run a serious track setup

I am running 350EVO front setup and rear with T2 springs. The 350 EVO setup is sway bars, upper A arms rear camber and tir rods all with metal bushings. Camber -3 front and -2.3 rear. Sway bars at med. This is a great setup for tracking. It is Ok around town and on the freeway but really only for dedicated track days and limited day use. This is the way I use my car. I will convert it to a dedicated track car in a year so I have been heading in this direction. This winter it is 3.9 rear gear with Gerkin LSD and Sparco EVO2 seat

Thanks so much for all the feedback.

Some questions. I've driven the Eibach w/koni's and have to say it was damn nice around town, but how is it in the twisties or on the track? I've heard progressive springs like the Eibachs aren't so great for that.

For the S-tune guys, do you find it harsh going over pot holes, expansion joints etc? My hotchkis are killing me in this regard (my roadster has developed so many rattles it feels like it is going to fall apart when I hit even the smallest bumps). I really need to test drive an S-Tune set-up b/c I have a feeling I'd be happy w/it if not too harsh.

For anotheraznguy, what struts were you using with the RSR's? I'm surprised to hear you don't like them--I've only heard great things about them and that was the other route I was seriously considering going (maybe the TI ones) with Koni's.

Neurosis, why don't you come out for the Mt. Hamil. run on the 18th and then I can go for a ride in your CS car?

Bruce's car with the Zeal's rocks, but for that much dough I might look at the CS or new Tanabe coils w/edfc announced at SEMA.

Thanks all!

!
Getting the S tune was one of the best things I have done to the Z. The ride is much better/smoother than the stock suspension was. It is firm, but not jarring like the stock suspension was. Handles much better. You are welcome to drive my car if you come up here to Santa Rosa or if we meet somewhere else. I am judging a show in NV on the Mt Hamilton run dates, so I won't be there.
