I have run with Trackmasters in the past, but don't know if they do a member discount. I'm down with doing an event with HOD, let me know when the next one is and I'll get my brother to go too, so hopefully you'll get $100.00 off But it will have to come relatively soon as my family and I are preparing to move out of the area soon.

Default I was driving the silver ZR... =)

I saw a guy go straight, and lock up when he figured out that he's supposed to slow and turn left. Luckily he had an underpowered car that didn't launch him off the hill. For some reason or another, the beginner group looked like a more uniform group of intermediate level drivers.

Despite the chaos at times, I still had a great time! You guys with the silver ZR and silver coupe are pretty quick. I got a few laps in at2:19. What kind of lap times are you seeing? I'm still running street tires and stock shocks.

I'll post about it here soon. I don't know my times, but I'd assume they were ~2:15ish? It's only a stock convertible after all... ;-)

See you next time,

Good meeting you, Scott. Failsafe, from my rear drivers side mirror, I actually saw that red car fly across the inside of the turn and come close to sideswiping you. What a nut! I'm kind of glad they got rid of that open passing rule for a while, and until everyone calmed down a bit. BTW, do you guys know who drove that green Golf?

My friend, in the E46 got placed in the "advanced" group, and it was his second time out on the track. His first track event was 6 months ago. I thought it was weird, but since he and I used to ride motorcycles down Skyline and Hwy 9, we decided not to ask for reclassification, and we did lead-and-follow for the first two sessions, and until he got reaquainted with the track. He was just passed by that red car before it tried to take failsafe out.

I guess the folks at NCDA placed first time drivers in the beginner group, and placed everyone else in the advanced group. Arvin, not you fault at all. It was just a bit confusing for everyone there. NC Racing Club had some miscommunication a while back that put a few beginners and advanced folks at the same time as us intermediate folks. I got stuck in between some beginners and advanced folks in fully prepped porche cup cars and the sorts. It was downright scary to see a fast car coming on me fast, and then disappear from my rear view mirror while I'm braking for a turn. He made me feel like he was going to take the inside line while I'm already making a move for the apex...good grief, that was unsettling.

Good to meet a few of you out there. I'll make sure to visit more now that I can put a face on these posts.

Don

Well hopefully he learned his lesson (albeit the hard way) by busting his rear axle and upper A-arm. Sucks for him but he shouldn't be barreling into corners like that period, much less when track and tires are cold. When I was following him I notice his rear end would get extremely loose under heavy braking. That quite possibly saved me from having him put his bumper into my door. I think he broke loose which took him off track. I remember seeing him in my mirror and thinking "this is gonna hurt". Then I looked out the drivers side window and saw him bouncing through the dirt and over the rumble strips (the wrong way). My passenger and I were both in disbelief that he didn't take me out.

I thought you and your buddy were some of the best drivers out there. In fact I thought everyone in the advanced group did well. Even the slower drivers (s2000 and Golf) were watching their mirrors and pointing by immediately. I'm not bothered by the slower drivers- it's the slower drivers that never look in their mirrors and never point by that worry me.

The beginners were supposed to exit after the parade lap. Then some beginners kinda talked their way into the advanced class to be with their friends. After those bugs were ironed out the rest of the day was smooth. 2:19 on street tires is a very good time!

Glad you guys had fun, but for those of you that missed out, think again. The next event is on Jan 8th! I got a group discount for my350Z members.

Wow, that low event fee is way too tempting! Thanks for feeding the addiction, ryans...

I'd like to see 2:17 on streets before I go to r-comps. That blue Sti was stock with stock street tires, yet the driver was still faster, smoother, and probably a bit more daring than me. I think I can afford to get on the gas a bit sooner, and slide a bit more if I had to. Also, I give up some time because I have to pump my brake pedal to get rid of that pad knockback. I need to learn how to pump my brake pedal with the left foot, so I can keep my right foot on the gas longer. I'd much rather get rid of the knockback issue instead of learn the left foot pump technique.

Failsafe, thanks for the compliment...someday, I hope to be as fast as you
