Default Get Tons of Track Time at Thunderhill this weekend. Dec. 11th.

An aquintance of mine is holding a track event this Sunday Dec. 11th at Thunderhill. Cost is only $140 for the whole day and so far there are only 30 drivers signed up. If you've ever been to an event with that little people it's pretty much drive until you can't drive no more. Get in on a great deal. See you there!

This company does a lot of drift events at Altamont raceway and this is their 3rd or 4th at Thunderhill but there will be no drifting on the track. They will have a skid pad setup for people to try drifting if they like, or just basic car control etc.

It's going to be a last minute decision for me. But if I can still pay at the gate I may go.

I never heard of these guys before, but I signed up anyway. Hopefully, it won't be chaos and carnage. They say there isn't going to be drifting on the track, but I expect a few individuals to get "inadvertently" loose.

I'm due for another hit of the track pipe anyway...

Thanks Ryan, I just emailed Don. I also spoke with Luke today at the shop. It looks like I'll be heading up on Sunday for some grip driving.

JASON!
It's time.
I chase another 350 on the track.
With my Focus.

Be there.

Remember that clip of you drifting around the skid pad?

Now you can be behind TWO 350s; but this one is stage STOCK.

See you in the early am - bring your cam...

Runs really strong. Handles super great. Definitely under-powered though. It's got zero torque.

What a free for all the event turned out to be. They broke down the run classes into beginner and advanced. The advanced group ended up having beginners, intermediate, and advanced level people all on the track at the same time. There were folks in the advanced group that looked like they had never driven there before....I mean folks that didn't know T5 is a left turn. I saw a guy go straight, and lock up when he figured out that he's supposed to slow and turn left. Luckily he had an underpowered car that didn't launch him off the hill. For some reason or another, the beginner group looked like a more uniform group of intermediate level drivers.

Despite the chaos at times, I still had a great time! You guys with the silver ZR and silver coupe are pretty quick. I got a few laps in at2:19. What kind of lap times are you seeing? I'm still running street tires and stock shocks.

Damn I've never seen anything as ugly as that first session. It was like driving through a mine field. Around every corner and over every crest I'd see a car spun and pointed at me or off the track. I even had some idiot try to take me and dnguyent hot into 11. He was within a few feet of making contact. Luckily he spun off track and missed.
Once they were able to break up the groups correctly it calmed down quite a bit and the advance session was extremely fun.

Not sure- I usually don't keep times because I'm too focused on driving. I should have had someone off the track time me. You should get some slicks and then you can be just as fast as Scott (ZR) and me.

Yes it was crazy during the first session. After the parade lap, I stayed in the track and ran with the advance group. Sorry about that.

I don't think it was anyones fault, just some initial miscommunication between the drivers and organizers. There were just too many different driving levels and too many cars on the course at one time. They should have pulled everyone off the track after the parade lap and then broken up the groups. Luckily they got everything corrected after that session and the rest of the day went smoothly.

Yes, you did refer me, and I did their Fri/Sat event. Two days of driving at T-hill...wow. NCRC is a pretty good group, and I missed their Sat/Sun Nov 19/20 event because I had a far and away wedding to attend. Otherwise, I would have done both days again.

I want to try Track Masters sometime too...do you have a referral in which both of us can benefit from?

I can refer you to Hooked on Driving for $50 off (each of us would get that). HOD is well run.
