They measured to the center of the headlight, but with a Z I'm not sure how they would do it.

If you look on your headlights, there is usually a dot or small impression close the the middlepoint of your headlights. They measure from that middlepoint down to the ground. I don't think you have to worry unless your car is lowered at least 1.7 inches or more.

Funny that when I drive around the Bay Area, I see mostly unmodified family cars & large trucks flying down the freeway driving all crazy. It's not the type of car they should target...it's the idiots behind the wheel.
I agree 1000%. Plus if they are going to try to get the street racer off the street. They should have more than one drag track open for the public. It should be open 18/7. I mean your lucky to get 2-3 drags in at Sacramento Raceway on Wednesday night. They also should have road courses set up this way as well. That is why I changed over to test and tune Fridays even though it cost more. I get more runs for the dollar. However, we need challenge raceways all over the state.

How do I lobby for this. Can we get the money? If they took the money they are going to collect in ticket would it cover the deal. Doubt it ..... So, where does that leave us?

This is an age old issue. If I was rich I'd start that roadcourse/dragstrip open 24/7 in Sacramento. However, I don't think it would pay off as an investment that's the problem.

If the state really wants to get street racing off the road they need to give them a place to challenge any time of the day or night. Along with beath analyzers to make sure it's a safe scene. That would probably stop the DUI on the weekend of young people.

I've said it before. If anyone want to invest in this project I'd be glad to run it.

I'm pretty sure it's from the ground to on center of the light source. However, after looking a the lights it might be the bottom of the lights reflector. Anyone?

Otherwise, everything I drive except my 4WD Pathfinder / Motorhome is out of spec. Lol !!!

i don't think this will affect z owners...unless your exhaust is loud enough to attract attention or if you've got stickers everywhere. i have only seen one z in sac with stickers and very few that are modified. i think they are targeting the hondas, acuras, etc....ricers

They are targeting "modified imports". If you read the article, they are assuming that anyone that fits this description is street racing which brings up the real problem....not every cop will know the difference with ricers vs. anyone else with the a modified car. Some will be cool about it & understand but there will be a handful out there that will pull your a** over because they either don't know or don't care what the difference is. They will quickly assume modified import = street racer.

i got pulled over recently in my z by chp and i have aftermarket parts galore...including aw front bumper, ti fuji exhaust and lowered but he never said anything to me or looked unda da hood...thankfully

i would be more worried about city and county cops than chp...but i have seen many peeps pulled over in sac these days so it is definately happening.....all modified imports = automatic street racer to them

i am so glad i got rid of my rsx-s now because i would have definately been a target with my comptech exhaust, lowered, comptech sways and aftermarket rims/tires

when i was having my ticket signed off for no front plate the chp officer was checking a guys exhaust on his acura....looked like he put the stock muffler back on...other than that he looked stock

btw...mecinoid...your firebird = nice not rice...hehee

Wow, that brings back memories. My 2nd to last car was a f-bird. I don't miss the live rear axle, though.

Thanks for the comments guys - Yeah, even with $ in the suspension it still can unweight you at times. That's what's so nice about the Z Car on bumpy roads. But, on long sweeper or smooth roads the Firebird sucks down on the road with the tracklinc.

If I ever get real money I'm thinking corvette rearend and TT. That will take some work. However, the Firebird has gone into build status now. That's a good thing.

Back to the topic - Look like I might be OK driving to see my folks and sisters in Sac since I sport the plate up front:

Plus, I look really old.

Well stay out of Rancho Cordova if you are modded. I have been lucky so far but at least once a day I see RCPD with some car pulled over and the cops under the hood. I think since they are a new PD they are trying to generate a lot of revenue fast by giving out lots of tickets for aftermarket stuff. I know its just a matter of time for me....

From what I'm reading the donut eaters are targeting import cars. But what about all the pickup trucks and loud azzed headers and pipes? Hell, I've seen more bad driving coming from F150's with construction racks than I ever have from imports with stickers.

the worst drivers are the rancho police...these guys are reckless and break the same laws they are pulling people over for...total abuse of authority imo. they remind me of citrus heights when they first came out...doing the same thing pulling everyone over for anything and everything.

watch out!

I had the exact same ticket in SJ. I got pulled over because i ran a red light on a right turn? WTF?? On a right turn? BS flag all over the place....then the cop was being an ******* about the whole thing and basically threatened me. Then he said he would not give me a ticket for running a red light, but he would have to give me a modified exhuast ticket with no chance of correction. Some SJPD are pigs..
