Robbers Dump Cash Onto Interstate 680
Two in custody, cash on freeway after S.J. bank robbery
By the Mercury News
What began as a bank robbery in San Jose turned into a wild police chase with suspects tossing money from their truck as they evaded authorities and forced the closure of Highway 680 for several hours Thursday afternoon.
Three suspects, whose names were not released, were taken into custody.
The incident began at 2:45 p.m. after the suspects robbed a Wells Fargo Bank at Meridian and Hillsdale avenues in San Jose. Inside, the suspects jumped over the counter and held the tellers at gunpoint before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.
A San Jose police officer spotted the getaway vehicle and began pursuing the suspects on northbound Interstazte 680. The suspects exited the freeway at Scott Creek Road in Fremont but then then got on southbound I-680, where they began throwing the money -- and a handgun -- out of the vehicle.
Several on-ramps were closed, clogging traffic for at least three miles while officers pursued the suspects. At one point, several officers began collecting the money that was tossed, placing it a plastic bag, witnesses said.
The suspects eventually surrendered after stopping near Berryessa Avenue and were taken into custody.
Milpitas police officers recover cash on I-680 near Landess Ave. after a bank robbery on Thursday.

Whoa.. no wonder there was a ton of traffic when I was coming home.. 680 was probably still closed and flooded Milpitas with cars.. I thought it was a bad car accident on 680 or something...
