Hello, as some people know my 350z is from hawaii. I am also from hawaii and i am the current owner and my registration ends in a few months. I was planning to get a california drivers license (in place of my hawaii license) and register my vehicle here. I have read that they do an inspection. The website says the following:
A vehicle verification. The vehicle must be inspected by an authorized DMV employee, law enforcement officer, or a licensed vehicle verifier employed by a registration service or dealership. These inspections require no additional fee and are most easily obtained by bringing the vehicle to the nearest DMV.
What does this mean? Will they check for aftermarket parts. The only thing that is not compliant with california law is that my front plate is zip tied on and I do not have legal tint. Thanks for everyone's time.

I once brought over a car from MD and they thouroughly inspected the car including all the proper smog equipment. You can print the form (I don't know which one) then find a police officer to fill it up for you......much easier this way than fall in line at the DMV. They will also check if that vehicle's vin # matches that of the title/registration. I don't know what to do with your tint, maybe roll down the windows and hope that they won't notice. Zipped tied plates are fine.

The catback exhaust is fine as long as your cats are still there.
When I brought my Altima over from AZ, they told me that it was not a '"California car", whatever that means. I'm guessing that they had different emissions standards or something. To be honest though, I think the Z is the same no matter where you buy it.

Awesome, thanks for the info guys. I am sure the injen intake is carb certified, but it doesn't have the # on the intake. It was certified after I had bought the intake. I do have the printouts of the carb certification from the dmv website though.
