How much do you trust your mechanic?
It's not unusual to read a thread on this site about the high quality and dependability of the work that Rob and the guys at Z Car Garage do, but i've got a story that I think is still worth telling:
So I take my car to ZCG for a pretty substantial build. Vortech SC kit. Cams. Headers. Brakes. Suspension. Sways. Intake Plenum. VB upgrade. Oil cooler. Tranny cooler. Gauges. And while it's in the shop, i find out that i've got to take an unexpected road trip to Alabama. When? Two days after the car is ready.
Rob says "I'm not scared. It'll be ready." Me? I'm scared Sh!tle$$. But what the hell. So i pick the car up on saturday, and monday i hit the road.
2500 miles down I-40. Through the desert south of Las Vegas. Over the mountains in Flagstaff and Albuquerque (7200 feet above sea level, by the way.) Through a 300 mile dust storm in Texas and Oklahoma. And finally, across the Mississippi river, through Tennessee and down into Alabama. The car runs flawlessly through the whole thing. Oil and water temps stay pegged right where they should be.
So i do what i have to do in AL, and now it's time to head back. I'm feeling a little bolder this time, so i push it hard. I drive 700 miles a day on the way home, and when i hit those long open stretches of road in OK, TX, NM, and AZ, i push it up to 90 or 100mph and set the cruise control. The car still purrs like a kitten the whole way home without a single glitch.
So here's the short version for all you doubters and worriers. I had ZCG do a dozen mods all at once, with the potential for a thousand little things to go wrong. And immediately after picking up the car, I drove it 5000 miles across the continent and back, and everything worked exactly the way it was supposed to. Ideal circumstances? No. But it's now safe to say that i trust my mechanic.

Wow. that's friggin nutz, and I was worried last year about taking my car to MSA for a 1000 mile trip and a month after my install. They really know their stuff and are very thorough. Im so glad I was able to meet them and get my work done, Rob has exceeded my expectations everytime and thats what I appreciate. Now how about some pix of your bad *** ride man. If anyone wants to see the most perfect rim and brake setup, Chuck has it. His Frigging setup looks so perfect anyone contemplating a brake setup but doesn't want to blow their wad, please do not view the pix if/when he puts them up. Great car, great guy and a great install to compliment them both. Hooooah!

Nice to hear that story. Rob is a great guy, and has done alot of great work on my dads 300zx. I have been meaning to drive down there to show him my new ride...but im afraid I will walk out of there wanting to mod the hell out of my car.
Rob and his crew are the only mechanics i trust for my Z. I have not once stepped out of his shop and worried that my car would not get done right. Theyare excellent in what they do and theyare a bunch of cool guys. Z car garage all the way!!!!!!!!!
