Unhappy Just found out I'm getting laid off

Well, I'm feeling like crap right now since my boss just told me I will be included in a series of cuts they will be doing in the next few weeks. She didn't have to tell me until next week but we're good friends as well so she decided to tell me in advance so I can start looking right away. Apparently, they will be outsourcing some positions & mine became one of them. So now I'm in a search for a new job. Anyone have any openings or know of any?

I'm an Ops/Production Manger with an IT background.

Damn this sucks

Sorry to hear that, man. The job market is pretty good right now, so I don't think you'll have problem finding another job.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear that James. Same thing happened to me about 3 years ago when I was at Intel. I'll keep my eye out for you.

I wish I had more to add other than Sorry to hear that. The company that I work for has been a little shakey lately so, I have been worrying about the same thing. Good luck.

Thanks for all the support everyone. I'm already starting to update my resume which it hasn't been for a long time. Still a little shocked from it but I'm pretty confident I'll find something. We'll see how things go. I'll keep you guys posted...

Good luck man... I've been laid off 3 times... all during the dot com bust and then post 9/11, so I know the feeling!

Best piece of advice I got was take time to relax and re-evaluate your goals in life and before you know it, an opportunity will present itself...Whether it be in the same line of work or better yet, in a field you are REALLY interested in...

Find out who they're outsourcing to and offer your services to ease the transition.

Sorry to hear. You probably already know, but you should be eligible to collect unemployment insurance if you're laid off, so at least you won't be in a total financial bind and able to pay some bills. Keep us posted.

Sorry James But like what was said earlier, the IT job market is now on an ever so slight upsurge which is a good thing... and you're in the South Bay which is a double plus for tech jobs. Good luck man, everything will work out for you.

Sorry to hear that. It happens to all of us and you just drew the unlucky ticket this time. Like RNL323 said it's an opportunity and your in a great location too. The best thing that happened to me 4 years ago was getting laid off. Now I'm in a Co. that's kicking *** right now and I'm so glad I'm not at the other place that whacked me. I just hope the current gig keeps it up for a while longer, but it never lasts forever. You'll be fine.
