So... any details on why? I'm on the hunt for a new laptop... and Dell's (XPS laptop) rated at one of the top ones to get.

The XPS laptop is also there top of the line laptop. But mainly because i work with computers day in and day out and Dell's just arent built good unless you go with there high end crap. XPS series and servers.

If your going that high end of notebooks why dont you look at Sony. They have some kick *** laptops if you dont mind spending the coin.

I have an Inspiron 9300 with the 6800 gt vid card. We just had a marathon WoW session with 4 laptops and 1 desktop. The Dell ran with all settings turned up to Max (beating out a high end Compaq and HP in fps). I can't speak for their other products, but that thing rocked. I bought it over a year ago (and still stable).

Cool cool. I saw some really nice Sony laptops also... costs more than the XPS. I'm not sure if im paying that much more for the "SONY" name printed on it or if it's that much better. Spec wise very similar.

Well with Sony you are paying alot for the name. But also remember that Sony has all there service centers and call centers here in the U.S. so you speak to an american when you call. and also all the main parts are the highest end part on the market. Just my 2 cents.
