Default Ck out this SCAM....

This is a long story but good... watch out if you are selling your car on the internet!

I poted an ad in the Yahoo Auto and just wanted to sell my car...

I get the first email... seems reasonable... but the address seems funny? and no name? hatchh70 just doesn't seem like a real name.. also ck'd the area code on the net and it did not come back with anything... hum....

Subject: Reply to ad: 2001 Honda Civic, posted on Yahoo! Autos
From: "Reply to Yahoo! Autos Ad" <hatchh70@yahoo.it> Add to Address Book Add Mobile Alert

I want to know if the car is still available, the present location/condition of the car and the last price.some recent pic if any

Contact: c j
Phone: 6716543212
Email: hatchh70@yahoo.it
Best time to contact: Anytime
Best contact method: Email

Second email...
The "Line and the story setup" this "person", nigerian?, never even seen the car...

I write to inform you that your price of $11,388.00 has been accepted
for the car and i hope the engine is serviced and oil changed
too. However,my client made out a US certified cashiers check before
he travelled to japan on a business trip, for a previous vehicle and
its shipp ment charges etc,but it was unfortunately sold. The amount
on the check he deposited for the vehicle before he left is bigger
than what should be paid to you now, so the check is now meant for
the total expenses which includes the purchase of your vehicle, the
pickup of the vehicle from its present location and the shipping
charges/other necessary shipping arrangements. So we want to know if
we shall carry on with that.I will get back to you as soon as i
conclude issues with him.

I still believed "him" and told "him" the car is still available and want to close the deal... i am very suspecious of this and want to see where this can go...

3rd email
Here it comes....

I got your mail and the contents well understood, as i informed you
in my last mail, that we have a cashier check which is made out for
the order, but the amount on it is bigger than what you are supposed
to be paid. However, our client has instructed us to carry on with his
check, that means that payment will get to you in cashier check of
$20,388.00 which is a refund payment of a cancelled order earlier
made by my client. So you are required to deduct cost of your car
$11,388.00 when payment gets to you and refund balance $9,000.00 to
my customer via moneygram or western union international money transfer for him to be
able to offset shipping charges. The remainder $9,000 constitutes a
payment to the buyer agent for fees, charges and compensation relative
to consummating the transportation of the subject vechicle and the
like.
After payment has reached you and balance sent back to him,our agent
will come for the pick up and drive to a prepaid shipper to be
shipped to my customer, while title papers and other necessary
documets will be handed over to my agent at the time of pick up.
Please Confirm this and provide name, address and phone number for
check payment to be delivered to you via courie courier .
Thanks

THIS SOUNDS LIKE A TOTAL FRUAD TO ME....I WOULD BE OUT OF $9k.... AND NO WHERE TO TRACE IT.....

Tell me if i am paranoid... i am not going thru with this deal....

I get emails like this all the time. Always from overseas. They are kind of funny so I just play along with them even though I know its a scam.

i knew it was a scam from the beginning, but i replied to his emails for fun.

If you want to pursue with the authorities, you can report this to the F.B.I. Sounds like they are using aliases and other false information but it could be enough information for the feds to get all up in their sh*#.
