Default The Brick Wax Challange

To all NorCal Bricks.

Okay, guys, sooner or later we will have a regional get-together.
I figure it would be the perfect time to see which wax/polish really brings out the Brick color of our Z best. We've all seen a gazillion posts on here for Zaino, Blackfire, Finish First, Mcguires,
Griot's Garage, etc. Actually, Im adding another: Martgol's Magic.
The latter comes from a detail shop in SoCal & is what Cazzz Z uses.

Soooooooooooo, how about Bricks signing up to do their Z in a specific wax? Compare at a meet later in spring/summer.

We need volunteers for (at least):

-Zaino (unless we can talk Bonz-er to driving across country)

-Blackfire

-mcguires

-Finish First

-Griots Garage

-Martgol's Magic (Rat has this one covered)

The most obsessive/complusive among us should take Zaino; or the guy who gets the short straw! (Zaino sounds like a lot of work to me....but maybe I'm just a candy-butt)

What ya all think?

If nothing else seeing a half dozen or so glistening Bricks all at one time would be slick.

Inquiring Bricks want to know! LOL.

I would be interested in seeing a flock of Brickyards all in the same place. One day I saw 3 in San Mateo - mine and 2 others - also saw my first Redline the same day.

I would LOVE to put my Zainoed Z in. I am confident it would outSHINE any and all comers, but alas, 3000 miles of (dirty) road lie between me and the rest of the competition. I hope someone can carry the Zaino flag to Cali and represent us proudly!

By the way, I'm not suggesting just a Brick meeting. I meant a large regional meet with several (well polished) Bricks present.

Oh, and vova, you can send a Brickyard hood; just don't be shippin' any maroon stuff out here!! LOL

Bonz-er, I'm confident there is at least one fanatic out here to carry the Zaino flag.........though you may have to provide some coaching.

Cool A minor disciple of Dr Bonz

I can cover the Zaino, hopefully, I’ll have more than a paltry 3 coats by then.
Must not be shamed in front of the master.

Perhaps I can be in the Zaino camp, as well, as the first coats are going to be applied this weekend.

Geez, glad to see some NorCal responses; I was beginning to feel like an orphan!

Two (at least) Zaino guys, huh? Sure, just a little added competition.

Maybe we can take up a collection & fly Da Bonz-er out here to be the judge. Would love to see the look on his face when my non-Zaino finish outshines the Zaino-ers!! Of course, you Zaino guys have to agree not to use the secret Zaino handshake to tip off Bonz on which Bricks are Zaino-ed. LOL

Well,

I put 5 coats of Zaino on when I first got my car in September, but since the rainy season has started, I haven't added any.

I ended up driving when a bunch of downed pine trees were all over the road, so now I need to clay bar all over again (got little spots of sap all over the lower body panels). At that point I'll pretty much be starting from square one.

Hopefully I won't be doing any of the Zaino faithful a disservice.

We'll have to decide where to meet.

We could do worse, of course, than the Sudwerk Brewery in Davis!

Got my first ding, when my wife opened the door of the other car too wide. Filled...with...ambivalent...feelings.

aelius,

My condolances on the dent. I talked my wife into driving into the garage at a angle with our SUV to avoid the door bump issue.

As for a meeting place I've suggested a restraunt in Benicia only becaue Benicia seems like a relatively central location for south Bay, north Bay, & Sacto guys. About an hour for all. But I'm happy to go where-ever.

Saturday is probably the right day. The freeways are a parking lot on Friday going north & east and the opposite on Sundays.

I'm thinking May for the month.

It seems that my dear wife is not the culprit, which means the ding occurred the ONE time I drove the car to work and, even then, angled it as far away from the adjacent space as I could.

Still, there are those here who have experienced much worse...

aelius, glad to see domestic tranquilty has returned. Sorry to hear about the dent. My "damage" to date is a paint chip about the size of a pinhead (looks much larger in my imagination...LOL)
on the hood.

Throb, ya have just saved the best for last.

others, Any of you Norcal Bricks using other wax....besides Zaino?
Would be nice to add at least a Blackfire and McGuires to the list.

I'm on my eighth coat of Zaino, but my car is CS, so it won't be much of a comparison.

A note to say that I got the ding repaired today at the dealer, where someone from Dent Pro stopped by.

Admittedly, the dent was not that large but now it is completely gone. Like magic!

Life is good.
