Vortech Install By Zcargarage
I think ZCG is a great shop.. planning to go there for a tune and maybe have some of my mods installed there.. Wish i had money for Lou's vortech kit, i would have been all over it! Congrats, and those #s are awesome at 5psi. I would be extremely satisfied with those #s!

I certainly think that paying an extra $300 is worth peace of mind that you've taken your car to one of the best Z shops and that your car has been done RIGHT!
It's all about the install and all about the tune.
Take the time to go down to the shop and talk to him. He is very busy. If you make some time to go see him, he will make time to answer all of your questions.

Z car garage is the place to go for any work to be done on the Z. Theyknow there stuff and i dont think twice about the price because i know that i will not have any problems after leaving the shop.
I got about 290 miles before I went empty on my tank. The trip computer said 17.9. But I have been driving it agressively. I will go easy on the gas pedal and will post up my MPG when I go for my next fill up.

Vortech's stock kit runs 8psi out of the box and does so safely. I don't recall anyone blowing their motor with the Vortech.
Also, there is no way to run only 5psi without a pulley swap as G352NV already said.

My car is a daily driver too and I am at 8 or just a hair under.
Congratz - looking great. And I'll definitely 2nd Z Car Garage and Rob's work. Always had great experiences with Z Car when I was living in the Bay. If I ever go FI I'll definitely make the trip back to San Jose to get it done there. Seems excessive but I really like their service.

I'm not trying to create bad business about z car garage. You're right, they probably do great jobs.
First of all, I personally have never had any work performed by z car garage. However, My friend with a 350 Z wasn't too happy about the outcome of a mod install by Z car garage. It was very odd that immediatey after a few major modifications that was done on the Z, the car lost compression and the engine was shot! We had to have another specialist change out the mod's and re-install all the stock parts in order to get a new engine from the Nissan factory. I don't want to get into names or details.
The first time I went into Z car garage, everyone was too busy to even say hello. I waited 30 mins. before someone helped me get a quote. It was a $1400 job. I went to another specialist and they quoted me $1100 for the exact same job. (300.00 less).
By the way, next time you go by z car garage, count how many of the same cars that are still chill'in in the parking lot waiting to be fixed.
Im glad that your experience was a good one.
Good Luck!!

No tuner shop is perfect although I can't find anything really to complain about ZCG besides the fact that Rob is too busy to answer phones sometimes =D. But if he doesn't pick up the phone, leave him a voicemail or a email and he will promptly get back you. I emailed him with some questions and price quotes and calls me back a few hours later answering everything. So i finally set up a car tuned at ZCG. Im very satisfied with service and workmenship. Price was very competitive. Rob is a cool guy and so is guy who tuned my car too. I'll definitly go back to ZCG for all my Z work.
Welcome to the family. If you didn't want the 8 psi it came with all you would really have to do is stay off the pedal. I have probably 20k miles on my kit beating the crap out of it daily with a raised limiter and no blowy! You'll be ok now up the boost on that bad boy!

A couple are employee owned and also are long term projects.
I am curious what major mods were done that didn't turn out well.
I've seldom seen a properly dyno tuned system fail soon after installation unless the power level significantly exceeded the capability of the stock internals.
Usually a catastrophic failure is the result of a system that wasn't dyno tuned and was running risky A/F ratios.
This is where it amazes me that people will spend $10k on a TT system install and then not spend the extra $500 on the dyno tuning...
