Hey I have the same problem with the drivers window, and since I have an 03' I am out of my basic 3 yr 36k warranty that covers this issue. I only have 29k on the car, crazy huh... anyway I am in sacramento, can I get a suggestion or instructions on what needs to be done to fix this myself? The window goes up and down and skips, goes slow, and sometimes doesnt work at all unless I hold the button and slam the door at the same time.

I did it myself with the help of the repair manual. Pretty easy.

All you need is a

Phillips screw driver
10 mm sochet or wrench
Contact cleaner or break cleaner
Marker to mark window screw position
and a second person to hold the window when you take it off

Moodie, I am going to Yesemite for the weekend, but I am willing to help at other times if you have plans to be around the San Mateo area.

Moodie, bad news.

Motors seem to fail shortly after cleaning. I would recommend replacing the motor. I am trying to find a place to buy at a reasonable price. Seems like AutoZone has them for about $140 each.

Check out this thread.

I have the same problem on the passenger side window! I have the extended warranty, does that mean it's $50 copay? What, am I getting a physical at the same time?! Or does the extended warranty cover it all? Anyone for a tech sesh in Salt Lake? It's a fun drive from Cali! Just kidding.

yes i had this problem and just got my car back today from nissan. The driver side window regulator went bad which makes the window go back up once closing the door they fixed the problem but my car is under warranty if you dont have a warranty it will cost you 350 dollars to fix this problem.

My drivers window failed too. It would roll down and then it would roll half way up. But then the window would roll down slowly as if the motor was dying. Then one time it wouldn't roll up at all. Once I got it to roll up, I never rolled it back down until I got it to the dealer and got it repaired under warranty. They replaced the motor and the window regulator. They also fixed the rattle on the door as well.

I don't have extended warranty and will be replacing both of my motors for under $200. This is a DIY.

Default What about some affirmative action

Maybe if everyone that is having window problems would contact Nissan and make a complaint, and let them know you are going to follow up with the Better Business Bureau or your states dept of Consumer Affairs. Also search for your states version of the Lemmon law. Each state varies but most say that if the problem can't be repaired after 3 attempts that may constitute a lemmon, especially important for those of you who have had several repairs regarding the window problem. Nissan should be forced to do something about this when you pay as much as we do for there product. I don't remember any disclaimer saying frequent use of window may cause premature failure. Might be worth a try. GB

I ordered my motor from Kragen for about 130 + Tax + 30 core. Same brand as Autozone (Cardone). I installed it myself, relieved of that headache for now. I also reset my passenger side.

About $140 and about 1 hr labor. All done for now.
