Sap removal opinion wanted
I've decided to take it to Califonia Detailing in SF. The guy says he will take out a couple spots while I was there and if I am satisfied, he will do the job for me. Seems reasonable, but quite pricey. Around $350. I will let you guys know how it goes and will take some before and after pics.

That is a lot of money, but my comprehensive insurance will cover most of it. I pay the $100 deductible. If he can do what he claims he can, then it's probably worth it. But I will give the san bruno shop a call and see what's up. THanks.
No bro, don't do that! Why file a claim with your insurance company?
You're just raping yourself! Your insurance rates are just going to go up over some sap spots that you can probably remove yourself for not even $100. And $350 to remove those spots by a car detailing place is a RIP OFF.
Follow my advice: post some pics on autopia.org and see what they have to say. Those guys are detailing gurus and will have your sap/tar off in no time.

So the detail shop was able to remove the sap, but the sap has eaten into some of the clear coat. So even with the sap gone, I can still see little divit spots.
My plan is to just use alcohol myself, which is what they used, to get rid of the sap and then just wax the crap out of the car. It's not too noticeable unless you get real close and look at it from a certain angle.
Oh well, thanks for all your help and if any good products come up, please let me know!
Thanks,
John

Oh, BTW, comprehensive insurance claims should not increase your premium. I have Mercury and I've claimed that a couple of times, once for a cracked windshield and once for a cracked headlight. If it is not a collision and not an "accident" related, then comp. insurance should cover it.
I am not saying we should abuse it, but we did pay for the insurance coverage, might as well make good use for it. Then again, please consult with your own insurance company to see if this is true with your carrier.

I am hesitant on the Wd-40 idea, but thanks though.
