Default BAY AREA MEET - Owners with Stance or Other Coilovers/Suspension Noise

Hi Folks in the California Bay Area,

This has been a reocurring problem for myself and some other Z owners with true coilovers, mainly Stance coilovers. For myself, there is a clunking/knocking noise coming from rear passenger side when going over small bumps at low speeds.

Now, I've researched and theres no real solution and some possible diagnosis to this so I think the best thing to do at this point is organize a meet with people having this same issue so that we can:

1. Get to know Z owners around the Bay Area (which would be pretty cool)
2. See if the sounds are similar
3. Find a solution, as this is annoying the F outta me..sounds like the car is falling apart!

I've spoke to a few owners who are interested in doing this so just wanted to see if we can get enough people for this. People who don't have this problem are more than welcome to come. I'm thinking Sunday, November 5th at 11 am before the weather gets worse. I'm open to suggestions on location, maybe Milpitas In and Out?

You sure it's just not the rear axle clicking noise TSB? Doesn't sound like it, but could be a possibility maybe.

How do you lube the spring? I have a noise, but it doesn't sound like its coming from my coilovers...I thought it was the end links. Also how do you make sure the preload is proper? Is it the locking nut right under the spring?

it IS the end links. If you have adjustable sways, I would guess that the setting is on "hard" both front and rear. Set both to "medium" and the sound will go away, until you get some better end links, and then set it back to "hard".

GTNPU_Z had this exact same issue.

i have oem sway bar...
and grease the springs where it meets the spring perch and the top coil hat..

also in terms of spring pre-load make sure you can sping it slightly when car is unloaded also make sure there isnt excess slack.

I'm interested to meet other Stance owners to discuss this matter further.

BTW:
- These noises ARE NOT associated with the rear axle clicking - TSB
- It is obvious, the noises started after the Stance installation.
- It affects those w/ Professional install or Self install.
- It affects those w/ OEM or After Market sways.

By getting together we can share ideas, tips and successful adjustments.
Whether you know the answers or not, come to the meet to assist the Z community.

The Milpitas In-N-Out is a good location and lots of restaurants near by.

Let's get a list going:

Hi All,

Sorry, I was in Reno this past weekend. I'm in whether or not theres just one other person. As to location, I agree...In and Out was a bad idea as there are a lot of cops there. Also, I know I suggested 11am, is that a good time to do a meet(not sure if we do it too late, there might not be parking)? Let's get some other location suggestions. Here's a few...

Milpitas Q-Cup
Old AutoRnD
Fremont Automall (any of the shop's parking?)

anotheraznguy, would be great if you can come out along with anyone else that have True Coilovers (esp Stance) who do not have this "clunking/knocking" problem. This will give us insight as to what we can do to fix the problem.
